Natthawut claims Suthep will become supreme leader

BANGKOK: -- Caretaker deputy commerce minister Natthawut Saikua claimed Wednesday that protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban would become the supreme leader with the most power in the interim government to be set up after the overthrow of Yingluck administration.

“He will be above the law, above the Constitution, above judicial process, can confiscate the assets of anybody or deport anybody out of the country. Suthep said before that he would seize the assets of Ms Yingluck Shinawatra,” said Natthawut.

The red-shirt co-leader disclosed the names of some individuals whom he claimed likely to be named ministers in the interim government. They include former finance minister Thanong Pitthaya, public health permanent secretary Dr Narong Sahamethapat, Constitution Court judge Charun Pakdeethanakul, former dean of National Institute of Development Administration Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, Private Sector’s anti-corruption organization chairman Pramon Sutheewong, Thammasat University lecturer Seri Wongmontha, former Thammasat University rector Suraphol Nitikraipote, former foreign minister Prasong Soonsiri, former Senator Chirmsak Pinthong, former senator Kaewsan Atipho, senior citizen Prawes Wasi, Thammasat University rector Somkid Lertpaithoon.

However, Natthawut said that it would be impossible for Suthep and his People’s Democratic Reform Committee to seize the power from prime minister Yingluck and the only way to overthrow the government is through a coup.

According to Mr. Nattawut, those expected to be approached for the forming of an interim government included Thanong Bidaya, who has clearly expressed agreement with the PDRC's calls; M.R. Sounds like bribes. Telling them in advance if you want a job with us don't go against us

So Nattawut is saying it's a done deal? He must have inside information from some source to name names like this? That puts Suthep in a class with the Supreme Leader of Iran and the Supreme Leader of North Korea. Suthep is a very dangerous man for Thailand. The Thai army should get him out of there.

Nattawut is probably getting his inside information from his buddy Jatuporn who works with US Intelligence sources. In February, 2012 Jatuporn publically proclaimed that members of his UDD and his associates who worked with the US Intelligence told him there could be a coup d'etat which could bring about a change of government in April.

Regardless of one's opinion on this article, either self-generated or agenized, I give credit to this media for finally giving some airtime to non-coup-mongers.

At this moment, behind me on AsiaUpdate, Jatuporn is giving a major speech.

It would be nice to see more balance shown between giving exposure to both pro-electoral/Parliamentary democrats, and the all-pervasive anti-democrat noise in the English Language media...It would give linguistically challenged Farangs like me, a much better perspective. I am fortunate to be amongst English proficient and educated Thai political junkies to get that perspective. Without it, explains the sympathy for anti-democracy stuff one hears from farangs who I am sure are not anti-democratic.

Another tiny positive, I see the media has stopped aggrandizing the coup-monger stage, by characterizing their noise as some sort of seminar or forum....At least I haven't seen it for awhile.

I have just been informed by one of your closest pro gov poster that Jutaporn/UDD/red shirts are not part of Yinglucks/PTP government they are separate unit.

This was posted on the red/demolish the army post topic.

Even you hardcore Pro gov posters are getting it wrong.

he is right. The only way to overthrow the government is a coup.

.

Actually there's another way. It's called an election. But you need popular support and a lot of hard work to win one of those.

Together with lots of cash payments and baseless promises to ensure those who don't really care who is in power vote at your direction.

yes, seizing the money the Shinawatras got from corruption scares them a lot.

Lets hope Natthawut is right and Suthep will be in the position to give back that money to the Thai people. Most of it, surely left the country already.
