M79 grenade hits NACC office again

BANGKOK: -- A M79 grenade was fired into the head office of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) shortly before midnight Thursday, causing damages to glass window of the building.

The grenade landed on the fourth floor of Building 1 inside the NACC compound on Sanambin Nam road in Nonthaburi province. The front gate of the NACC was sealed off and occupied by redshirt supporters of the caretaker government.

They seized the NACC head-office to demand the graft buster to stop work and protest the probe of the caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on malfeasance and corruption charges involving the controversial fake rice sale to China. The second attack which hit the building inside was the second time in less than a week.

EOD police believed the grenade was fired from a remote Soi Nonthaburi 48 which is only 50 metres off the wall fence of the NACC office, and about 200 meteors from where the redshirts were holding out and stayed overnight.

The NACC office was hit by M79 grenade on March 24. Earlier, hand grenade was all thrown but landed outside the fence.

Nonthaburi governor and provincial police chief rushed to inspect the scene last night with the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) police. Political motive was a strongest motive in the attack.

The NACC yesterday rejected Ms Yingluck’s request for an extension of 45 days to report the NACC March 31 to defend charges. Her redshirt supporters also called on all the NACC board to resign claiming it unfairly treated her.

Latest report said the police arrested a group of men who they suspected might be responsible for the grenade attack. Investigation is still underway.

so the redsdhirts had to walk away from their camp to fire at the building, obviously they should have just camped 200 metres away then they could have shot at the building while reclining on their chairs while necking another coldie.......

That is why yesterday the Reds moved the army base ,, to get a better spot to fire from and less chance of Army seeing them. They are worried about the Police seeing them as they have blinkers paid for by TS. He should have paid for some-one to train them to aim properly though. 5555

No doubt about Thailand you can always bank on intimidation , youv'e got a mob protesting in the grounds of the NACC for christ sake, the police are as usless as tits on a bull and all the bird brains can do is write to the President of America and the U.N. complaining about an election, before anyone go's to far , can they put their back yard in order before the word gets out that Thailand is a basket place coffee1.gif Oh sorry it already is .

First Army Division Commander Maj Gen Wara said the Army set up the checkpoints near the NACC to prevent assailants from firing M79 grenades at the NACC office. One day after the red shirts dismantle one an M79 grenade hits the NACC building.

Why would the red shirts dismantle bunkers that protect the NACC from grenade attacks? UDD principle #3 states - To promote non-violence as our modus operandi for all activities. We all know the UDD supporters adhere to principles right? So if they respect their own principles would they not suggest that the army set up more check points?

Since the UDD are principled I look forward to a statement from Jatuporn or Nattawut denouncing this attack and that they are looking forward to the culprits being held accountable.

The more these instances occur; the more reassuring these red fools can't think nor fight their way out of a paper bag. Seems they are more of a threat to themselves. Why they couldn't fight their way out of their own bamboo stake camp 4 years ago. Reassuring at least. If Hun Sen has ill intent, should be a stroll through the park if entering the Isaan zone.

Are you not forgetting Jamie that it was hit the night before the barricade was dismantled, logic then would indicate that the barrier and it's occupants were "ineffective" would you not agree ?

Nobody has dared to mention as far as I'm aware that perhaps the Army have very "sympathetic" elements within Bangkok that are pro(Red) Government, and they too are turning blind eyes, or heaven forbid maybe the perpetrators themselves? ;)

Only I have mentioned on several occasions that this 'Red?' rogue element, members of the Police, Military and the PDRC are all in this together, working for the west as paid thugs / gangsrters to overthrow the legitimate elected government. Eventually the majority will get fed up with this continual mocked violence, request the Military step in with a coup of sorts, throw out the Government (caretaker), restore calm, appoint a puppet leader and Bob's your uncle.

The implications of this are clear. The rule of law - through the courts and the judicial checks and balances - is being threatened. The NACC - as a constitutionally empowered institution - is finding its very existence being questioned and resisted by both the " administration " and the UDD. That's unprecedented. It is an impossible situation, because the NACC have the constitutional obligation to conduct investigations. They cannot simply stop in the event of intimidation or attack. These grenade attacks and resistance to the independent agencies is getting noticed internationally. The message it sends is truly terrible, and shows a wanton lack of respect for legal checks and balances.

When was the barricade/army post set up?

I might be wrong, but was under the impression that it was there less than a day.

Not to suggest that a single army post is material: can shoot (or miss, as the case may be) a building this size from more than one location.

But give them an old monk on a cane and 30 of them can do wonders.clap2.gif

Pleasing to see that these grenade attacks on the NACC offices and the relative information on Yingluck having to defend herself at the NACC for the rice scam are making the international newsreels. Nothing like honesty to trump Pheu Thai whining on the international stage like the soi dogs they are.
