I was just watching the Thai news about some 200 people who bought packages from an agent at a travel fair in Bangkok. The packages were scams and nothing was available when they showed up for their reservations. The travel agent is still in business and facing a 10 million baht lawsuit.

Before buying any package or big money airfare from a travel agent in Thailand best to do a search on here for recommend agents. Lots of threads with good advice. Plenty of good travel agents where you can get good deals and peace of mind also plenty of dodgy agents.

I don't understand.huh.png How can they keep being in business like this?

From experience I have found the Office of the Consumer Protection Board of Thailand is far more effective ( and considerably cheaper) than engaging lawyers. From what I've seen OCPB becoming involved soon generates results and these kinds of agents certainly wouldn't be allowed to keep flogging their wares like this?

This scam happened to me a few years ago. I bought a one way tkt home with my Thai wife, from a company called JOYs travel in Soy 8 Pattaya. When e got to the Airport, I was informed that i was not booked onto the flyt. when i enquired at the Emirates desk, i was told the tkt was cancelled. a few days before, I phoned Joys travel Agent and ask what the problem was, She denied it, I told her i would be coming back to Pattaya and bringing the police with me. it was finally sorted out 2 days later and i came home on Swiss Air via Geneva. The Place is long gone now from Soy 8.
