BANGKOK, April 1 - The number of passengers at Suvarnabhumi International Airport increased immediately by 4 per cent compared to the period when the Emergency Decree in the capital and its adjacent areas was in effect.

Raweewan Netarakavesana, Suvarnabhumi airport director, said lifting the decree resulted in travel warnings changes by a number of countries.

She noted during the April 9-18 Songkran festival, the number of passengers is expected to grow by 32,000, while airlines have asked for additional 230 flight landing permissions, of which 210 flights are international, particularly from Japan and China, while the other 20 flights are domestic.

Ms Raweewan said that flight increase was a good sign for the recovery of Thailand's tourism. (MCOT online news)

Immediately? Tourists must have been camping out in their country's airports waiting for the news, then jumped on the plane the moment they heard about the decree being lifted.

Year after Year the number of people visiting Thailand increase. Regardless if you want to dispute actual numbers there is no reasonable person in the know disputing the fact Thailand has seen huge increasing of foreign visitors over the years and the numbers in 2014 will likely be more than triple what they were ten years ago. I am always baffled why some people can't or refuse to accept this ... especially when most themselves are visitors in Thailand.

"Passenger flow." This does not include the flow of airport officials slapping around junior security officers as they are flowing through the metal detectors at the Thai airport and not recognized as important and special.
