Needing a reason to go back to Thailand / Looking for exporter in need of Canadian Importer

Hello all,

I developed a love for Thailand back in 2010. I spent 10 days there just at the riots were ending. I haven't been able to stop thinking about the beautiful country ever since.

I travelled there on Vacation by myself at the beginning of the relationship I'm still in. The problem is that my girlfriend has no desire to go to Thailand and I really can't justify trying to go there just for a vacation by myself.

I recently started importing vehicles from Japan. I enjoy being able to make side money on cars I love while still being able to work full time.

I am extremely interested in buying and selling goods from Thailand and what better excuse to go back then a business trip!?

I'm thinking about everything from handbags and steel tubing, to natural rubber tree gum latex.

I'm hoping to get some suggestions from people who are currently importing / exporting or people who travel there regularly to purchase goods.

Any exporters looking for a Canadian Importer?

I have been living in Thailand for three years. Me and a few friends (a fellow American and 2 local Thais) occasionally buy cosmetics whole sale at some of the markets we have contacts with here and then turn around and sell them in bulk. We do it about once a month or every two months during a weekend to then pay for travel and holidays. But, we are starting to consider expanding it in to more of a part time thing, and we would like to start exporting to America/Canada. We don't think however that cosmetics would do well abroad (we have learned there is a major trust factor with foreigners purchasing cosmetics here so our market has always been locals only). We are leaning towards tee shirts and handbags as we know some amazing designers and also are currently working on gaining contacts directly with a couple of factories (it involves a bit of money changing hands but it's doable). At any rate I would love to hear more about your experience...who knows, maybe we could give something small scale a go and see where it leads.

http://www.jas-sofa.com Thai based company for exporting leather furniture. You have a huge range of options and this was my idea way back. Buy about 30 sample couches with a nice showroom in Canada. Every 2 weeks you place your order and 6 weeks later the order is shipped. This is exactly how Sears works and its very easy to start. Frames come from America and leather from Italy but the pieces are assembled in Thailand. I bought a 3 piece set and they are great - very good quality and would sell no problem in Canada.
