Hello all...I'm Irish and I want to get my work permit. TOEIC.? whats the craic?

I have previously had a work permit and I never had a problem. (It was with an agency). Now my new school is asking for my TOEIC test score. They told me that the MOE asked them for my score because I was Irish. I obviously disputed this and after awhile they agreed to call the MOE again in my presence. The MOE refused to back down saying they wanted a score. I even informed them about the teaching councils website, where it states we (irish) do not need the test. They said they are not the teaching council and that they needed a score from me.

I am working for a private bilingual school. Would that have anything to do with the difference in procedure or is somebody just giving me wrong information???

Appreciate all the help I can get fellow teachers.

Cheers

One thing is for sure, arguing with the MOE wont really make the situation any easier. It may also send a message to the new school that you are argumentative and may not fit into their school system
