(CNN) -- Three men were sentenced to death Friday for the gang rapes of two women in the Indian city of Mumbai last year, public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam said.

The men -- Vijay Jadhav, Mohammad Qasim and Salim Ansari -- were sentenced to die under an amended Indian law that sets death as the maximum sentence if convicted of more than one sexual assault, according to Nikam. The three were found guilty of gang-raping.....(read more)

It does not break my heart when someone is executed for rape or murder.

When one views the crime and the fact it took a number of ''men'' (if that is the correct term for these emerging sub human species) death is the best method of dealing with the perpetrators of this horrendous crime.

Let's be fair about it, the whole caste system in India is indeed an affront to human dignity.The lower ones caste the less likelihood of a decent life exists.

Is the fact that the death penalty still exists not an affront to human dignity?

I should imagine that life in an Indian maximum security prison is far from pleasant - let them rot in jail until they expire, by all means, but the taking of another's life should never be state sanctioned.
