It seems to me that there is a sizable Canadian contigent here on TV. We are not a flag waving crowd here it must be said, and that's fine; Yes i have a flag; anyone else from the east? Just thought I would open a thread to say hello to all you people from Gods country. A couple topics for discussion:

Looks like not much chance the stanley cup will headi north this year. whats the best pay site to watch the playoffs with minimal latency?

Would you agree that soccer is at the end of the day a girls game?

Have any expats embraced other sports? Aus rules and cricket for me.

I have a source for clamatoe juice in Singapore if anyone wants some.

Do you agree that we do better with the local ladies then seems to be the norm in Thailand?

How often do you go home?

Guys and gals just thought I would throw this one at the wall to see if it sticks.

Cheers to all

Canman

Canada is an amazing country. All that open space and twenty million people huddled on the American border.

Hey; it's warmer there. Just because we can deal with the cold doesn't mean we want to. :)

I'm here, I'm here all the way from D'Rock.

There are 4 Newfs here on TV, come on guys step forward we've heard all the jokes before.

I've was watching the playoffs a bit via tunnel bear. Since you mentioned hockey I'll be humming the other national anthem (well you know, can't give away too many secrets as some like to pretend they're Canadian and it's how I catch them 55555)

I've been told no more sport as I over dosed with the Olympics and bored the family to near death :) I know I'll be addicted to the World Cup and missing a cold moose head. What need do you miss the most ? for me it's Mossehead and Rickards Red.

My sister knows I love Caesars and brought those little tetra pack thingys, they didn't last long :( would love your contact for clamato. She also brought cheese curds and liquorice and if you can believe I asked for Swiss Chalet gravy mix and she brought St Hubert I almost left her at the airport. Had a good feed of salt cod, not sure you mainlanders squired a taste for that ?

I think we're heading home in June, we wanted earlier but other family obligations popped up.

I''ve heard from the Embassy they believe there are 4000 of us here full time, wouldn't a Timmy's be fantastic ?

Huddled? Are you going into the states with a Hail Mary touchdown pass?

We get an extra down

Hey Todd

My grand parents are from Deer Lake, I was brought up in NS. The island jokes i tell are all PEI.

Cold Storage sells Clamatoe juice in Singapore although it is hit and miss which outlet has it on a particular day. They have a reliable online delivery which has not let me down.

Wow; black and red liquorice, a blast from the past which i have not thought about for ages! I'll trade you a litre of Motts for a bag of it.

Labatts or Keiths and always the HABS for me!

Oh no a Habs fan hehehhehe, Newfoundlanders are loyal to the Leafs, even though half the population lives in Flames territory.

I'm out of stock on the liquorice front sorry, but I will check out the clamato suggestion. We planted celery a few weeks back so I sense a party with the harvest.

Since you've got blood from Deer Lake no need to screech you in then, that's always a laugh here with a tilapia. Toby Jug pub used to have a plaque with the Ode to Newfoundland on the wall, sadly it closed down but the owner was always up for screeching in any Canadians.

Canadian here. Raised out west, but lived everywhere coast to coast.

Miss me some Rocky Mountains, gorgeous shoreline, a double-double in the morning, Sleeman's in the evening, skiing twice a week, camping, my poutine, and people who swear like donkeys!

Yes folks, us Canadians swear like donkeys. Just listen to us... "fuuuuooook oooffff".... "bullllllsheeeet". smile.png

Oh, I was kinda screeched in once. Except they didn't have any fresh cod, so we ended up with a frozen cod fillet.

Ahhhh poutine, you served me well as a carb bulk night before junior A games. Not that I lasted long at that level.

Thanks for opening this thread.

As an American, I hope to see some good old Canadian-bashing here as well, so as to get all the punters off our backs.

If anyone lacks material, you should watch the historical documentary, "Canadian Bacon" first.

Now I'm craving a Nanaimo Bar.

If you've ever been to George Street in St. John's we'll tell you we don't have cod anymore - be prepared it's a very long story so we've adjusted and use lobster often, hell after a bottle of screech we may even make you kiss the back end of a dog.

Having worked in Canada for 7 years, I have absolutely no idea why on earth a Canadian would choose to live in Thailand.

Hear, hear!

As a Seattle native, I spent more weekends in BC than in my home country.

I think the only reason I moved to Thailand was because I couldn't afford Whistler weekends anymore.

When I go back home to visit, it's a quick "hello" to the family, and then off to BC for Nanaimo Bars and snowboarding!

Sigh.

It's not that cold, in St. John's in August we broke 30 degrees almost daily.

That would be 10 degrees at breakfast time, 10 at lunch and 10 degrees around supper time.

A bar on every corner! As a young hitch hiker I remember it well, never paid for a hotel room the whole week i was there. That was the 70's, not sure how it is now but I hope the hospitality is still the same.

Why don't I live in Canada? Aside from the warm climate of Thailand, Canada is in serious trouble.

Serious Trouble for Canada

TRUE, VERY TRUE.

We are in serious trouble...

The population of this country is 30 million.

16 million are retired.

That leaves 14 million to do the work.

There are 8.5 million in school.

Which leaves 5.5 million to do the work.

Of this there are 4 million employed by the federal government.

Leaving 1.5 million to do the work.

200,000 are in the armed forces.

Which leaves 1.3 million to do the work.

Take from that total the 1,160,000

people who work for province

and city Governments.

That leaves 140,000 to do the work.

At any given time there are 39,800

people in hospitals.

Leaving 100,200 to do the work.

Now, there are 100,198 people in prisons.

That leaves just two people to do the work.

You and me.

And there you are,

Sitting on your ass,

At your computer, reading jokes.

NICE. REAL NICE.

great news, I don't want to retire sounds like there may still be a job for me!

I'm not Canadian. It wouldn't suprise me if Canucks do well...I've always considered Canadians so much politer and less arrogant than many other countries. More down to earth.
