Woman, 50, caught smuggling 2.5kg of 'ice' into Phuket

Buachompoo (seated) contemplates a grim future as Customs officers show off the haul to media this morning.

PHUKET: A 50-year-old Bangkok woman was arrested at Phuket International Airport yesterday afternoon (April 6) after attempting to smuggle a large bag of crystal methamphetamine (ya ice) into the country.

Customs officers searched luggage belonging to Buachompoo Pattanapiyawat, and discovered the drugs hidden in sachets of dry cereal drink.

The ya ice weighed in at 2.5 kg, and had a street value of about B7 million.

Officers became suspicious after noting that Buachompoo had taken a very short trip to China, flying yesterday to Guangzhou and then taking a bus to Hong Kong before boarding a Dragon Air flight, arriving back in Phuket at 4:30pm

She was charged with smuggling and with possession of a Category 1 drug with intent to sell, and was taken to the lock-up in Tah Chat Chai police station for further questioning.

Hope the lady remembers who "hired" her, who paid for the air fares and where the"loot" was to be delivered.

its a pretty sad state of affairs , when you see this as the norm, why not allow her through customs and arrest her handler, the pawns are easy marks.
