Abu Hamza terror trial set to start in US

NEW YORK: -- The trial of Abu Hamza al-Masri, the radical cleric extradited from the UK to the US in 2012, is due to start at a federal court in New York later.

The Egyptian-born preacher denies 11 terrorism charges including providing support to al-Qaeda and trying to set up an al-Qaeda training camp in Oregon.

He was extradited from a UK prison, having been jailed for seven years for inciting murder and race hate.

It was specified that he must be tried in a civilian court in the US.

This stipulation was made by British and European court rulings, after a legal battle which began when the US requested Abu Hamza's extradition in 2004.

I saw him preaching outside the Finsbury Park mosque in London.

A horrible site to look at him and just venom coming out of his mouth.

I hope he gets what he deserves.

Enough pampering by the British.

Is his "extended" family still on benefits in the UK. ?................sad.png

Transam, I think his family left the country shortly after his extradition - they left saying they'd had enough of the UK!

he was complaining to the judge about the living conditions in the US jail. he demands internet access, special treatment and a bidet. The judge told him, "you're in jail, not a hotel" 555

Ooooh Goody! Is this going to be televised? He ran rings around the British and European judicial system for years, something he is not going to get away with in the US. His goose is cooked! It will make great daytime viewing.

Well I am unsure if the family left but if they did, they left a couple behind. One of his sons was jailed for a year for violent protests and another son aged 20 yrs old was jailed for 11 years for armed robbery 2 years ago. Quality family! And the UK tax payer still keeps paying for them!!
