When doing the rounds I prefer to drink draft beer rather than bottled, preferably Singha .

A lot of the a-go-gos & some beer bars have Tiger and / or Chang but over the past couple of years the number of places that serve Singha Draft has drastically reduced. The only bar I know that sells it is the Peppermint in Naklua Road by the Dolfin Roundabout.

Anyone know other bars where it's available?

You can get Singha draft at the Pig & Whistle, Soi 7. I must admitt it's not a bad drink though I do prefer the Old Speckled Hen. :o:D

Thanks Monsieur. I've been to the P&W a few time for brekkers but never for a beer.

I too prefer Old Speckled Hen, but probably not the same as in UK. I'll give it a try though :D

When you do find a bar that sells Singa draft please let me know......so that I can avoid it. :o

I'll take Carlsburg and Heineken any day. :D

Carlsburg & Heineken = Europiss. I've been avoiding them for yonks! :D

Now that's an idea I hadn't thought of. :D

It might also make a good beer batter for deep frying fish fillets, but should never be consumed as a drink. :D

Is hard cider hard to come by in Thailand overall? :o

Amonst others Stronbow and Blackthorn cider are readily available in Patters and I have been priviledged to be able to have partaken of my fair share of homemade scrumpy on a few occasions. post-15964-1149858104.gif

Fosters is what is sold to the rest of th world as Ausie beer. It is not a big seller in the "home" market, there are far more popular beers and many better than Fosters. I prefer a Little Creatures Pilsner or some of the pale ales.

Wussies.

Drink Whiskey.

Remember:

Candy is Dandy,

But Liquor is Quicker !

Kerry -try half lager/half cider, drink about 6 pints and report back to us. :o

How many ounces in a pint ? 16 I think.

So, 1 mixed drink = an ounce of whiskey and 3 ounces of coke = 4 ounces.

4 Drinks = 1 pint.

24 drinks = 6 pints.

Hmmm, 24 ounces of Whiskey (and mix) to match the equivalent volume of 6 pints of lager/cider.

Who do you think would get drunk quicker, the guy with 6 pints of lager/cider, or the guy with 24 whiskeys ?

On good nights I can handle about 15 shots of whiskey and still walk home under my own power.

(oops got to run, just got the call from soon-to-be-ex !)

An interesting question.

If you are from the UK, the home of the imperial measure, the answer is 20 oz (570ml) to the pint if you are from the USA the answer is 16 oz (456ml).

I have theory that the master measure was dropped on the trip across the Atlantic. The person who was supposed to guard it did not notice the missing 25% and the yanks got a short measure from then on.

Getting a bit off-thread here boys.

Btw, are you talking "whisky" or "whiskey? " The latter's the Irish variety & there's a whoe lotta difference to a connesieur. :o

Trying to convert some of these cheap-charlie beer drinkers into whiskey men !

Of course, there are various types of whiskey. I prefer rye whiskies myself, but will settle for blended if nothing else is available.

Out on the town, I usually stick to Jack Daniels, as most bars carry it and most staff know what you are asking for when you order it.

:D So the volume of one fluid ounce of 'whisky' differs from one fluid ounce of 'whiskey'...? :o

IRISH WHISKEY

Pat and Mike had been drinking buddies and friends for years.

After having a few drinks in a bar one night, Mike said to Pat, "We have been friends for years and years and if I should die before you would you do me a favour?"

Pat replied, " Sure old friend what is it?"

"Get the best botlle of Irish Whiskey that money can buy and pour it over my grave."

Pat replied," I would be glad to do that for you my old friend, But would you mind if I passed it through my bladder first?".....
