BANGKOK: -- An unknown gunman allegedly opened fire at a car owned the captain of the Ratchaburi Mitrphol Football Club in Ratchaburi's Muang district yesterday morning.

After getting a report of the shooting at the top of Soi Chumchon San Khu at 2.30am, police found the car riddled with bullets, Pol Lieutenant Chukri Pakuda, who was on duty at the Muang Ratchaburi Police Station, said.

The car's owner, Prayad Boonya, 33, told police that he had parked his car outside his home and was inside when a neighbour shouted out that his car was being shot at. The well-known footballer said he rushed out but the alleged shooter had already fled the scene.

Images captured on security camera showed two male youngsters, both wearing caps, arrive in the area in a black sedan and one of the youngsters got out to check Prayad's licence plate number before driving off. The black sedan returned and shots were fired at Prayad's car before it drove off.

The incident is being investigated and police suspect the attack might have stemmed from a personal conflict. Prayad reportedly has a lot of female fans, which could mean that a jealous boyfriend was behind the attack.

Footballers are known worldwide for their monogamy, added to that Thais are also well know for it too. Can't for 1 second see it being an upset boyfriend after finding out this guy has slept with his Mrs.

If it is true... that this was done by fans' jealous boyfriends, then these Thai boys really need to grow up and then grow a pair and learn how to handle situations without resorting to killing.

They shot up his car, as a warning I guess. Stupid I agree but maybe letting him know he can be got to and to back off. Not exactly heroic but no ones been killed. Yet.
