Report Cannabis Chaos: 12,000 Thai Shops Face Closure Under New Rules
Loony propaganda from the 1940s dressed up every so often to justify the authoritarian regimes around the world who want to control people's minds. Singapore comes to mind as does China and North Korea... -

Report Thai Woman's Bold Demand for 1 Million Baht Sparks Online Debate
She's 15 years into the marriage and doing great. Her social position at the beginning was definitely an outlier, you're correct about that. -

CW Under Consideration, Bank Balance Question
Hi, I did my non O extension renewal last month and have the usual "under consideration" stamp to go back on 14th July. All good. All docs, financials etc were spot on. Just today something unexpected came up and I need to make a fairly chunky payment tomorrow which will see me dip under 400k. I can move some money here but not in time. I am sure there is no question as they have a full 6 month statement in my application and it's always been well above 400k. Is there any chance they may ask to see my bank balance again when I go back on the 14th? It didn't happen last time and I have never heard of it, but it is bothering me. Has anyone heard of this happening? Are we officially required to keep the money seeded until final approval, or only until the application? Do I have any need to worry? If so maybe I can borrow from a Thai friend in the interim to cover me until my funds arrive, but I would rather not if I don't have to. Thanks for any advice. -

How to open a Bank account in 2025?
The rules in Thailand are quite "elastic". They vary from branch to branch, and from person to person. I arrived in Thailand with O-A visa a while ago and tried to open a bank account. All of the bank branches required a work permit from me...tried in vain to explain them that I'm on a retirement visa. Then I brought with me my gf, which had substantial amounts in 2 banks and the staff was 'wai-ing" her, the accounts were opened pretty quickly. The requirements seems to get tighter, I had to provide my Australian tax file number last time in order to open a term deposit. -

Went for Chicken Rice, Almost Came Home with a Fiancee: Now What, Mates?
Snaps on a mobile these days! The 21st century equivalent a sleazy guy with some dodgy Polaroids asking "hey mister, you wanna f%$k my sister?"
