Nikom believes the attempt to hastily hold a Senate session is to axe him

BANGKOK, 17 April 2014 (NNT) - Senate President Nikom Wairatchapanit has expressed his belief that he is becoming a target of a political attack as an attempt to hastily call a special Senate session is destined to impeach him.

Mr. Nikom is referring to the recent request made by Mr. Surasak Liengboonlertchai, First Deputy President of the Senate, calling on Prime Minister and Defense Minister Yingluck Shinawatra to issue a royal decree for the Senate to be convened on April 24th.

The National Anti Corruption Commission has already ruled that Mr. Nikom is guilty of corruption for being involved in the Senate Origin Amendment Bill in accordance with Section 272 of the constitution. In order to proceed with the impeachment, the Parliament is required to seek a royal command for a Senate session to be convened.

Mr. Nikom viewed that an attempt is being made to invoke Section 214 for the Senate to hold an Extraordinary Session. He suspected that the move is to impeach him and elect his replacement -- a stepping stone to the installation of a controversial Section 7 Prime Minister.

Mr. Nikom, did you do something wrong? Did you break the law? If you do the crime be prepared to do the time. We all know you did nothing wrong, you are a politician and like all politicians, you know which side your bread is buttered on. coffee1.gif

I believe Khun Nikom is a paid thug of Thaksin.

That is why he has to be removed at all cost; just like Yingluck.

If this is so, he should say it on he's income from other: on he's declaration of financial interests.cheesy.gifcheesy.gif

Pheu Thai seem to have a very fluid concept of time. When they want to hastily pass questionable bills in the middle of the night, that's OK. But when they are called to account for it, they say it's too hasty.

Let's see what tomorrow brings

That's what they (PTP) call demon-cracy! Gotta be their way or highway, because they have the majority!bah.gifbah.gifbah.gif

A very strange country: something that would be considered as politics in most countries is deemed corrupt in Thailand ....and things that are clear corruption are ignored by ALL major political parties and have been for decades.

Is this news? I thought that the Senate already said that they need to meet to consider the impeachment and a number of appointments to the independent agencies that they are required to approve.

Nikon.

Just wait until you are investigated by the NACC for your massive wealth increase from 1 million baht, a house, a car and a tractor to the same assets but with your cash assets now ballooned to over 250 million baht in less than 2 years.

He is obviously a very talented businessman. Or maybe not, maybe while he was in the Senate he had someone else manage his finances and they did an amazing job. I'd feel I was doing really good with 10% return per year. Not growing 250 times in two years.

If the government enact a royal decree in order to open an extraordinary parliamentary session that would allow the upper chamber to deliberate an impeachment motion, than the senate could impeach the government and their supporters. What happens if the government does nothing?

Not really a 'political attack' if he has legitimately done wrong and the court has ruled as much, it is simply the senate trying to prevent him bringing them into further disrepute and trying to get on with it's business. This and Yingluck's mysterious 'technicality' - PT should stop trying to interfere and let the courts do their damn jobs - you did the crimes, now you must face the consequences. PERIOD ! ( as Obama would say ).

In political terms he is a 'dead man walking' so why don't they issue that decree, get on with it and put him out of his misery!!!
