I've got a friend who is Thai but got an Australian passport when she was a child. Her mother was married to an Australian, but she now longer has contact with her mother and her Australian father died and she has no contact with his family in Australia. The passport has since expired six years ago on 17-JUNE-2008. How can she go about renewing this passport? She lived in Australia for four years as a child, but has been in Thailand since she returned. She is 19 years old now. Much thanks.

All she has to do is apply for a renewal of her passport.as long as it was issued after 1 July 2000.

Don't want to throw cold water on the suggestion BUT.... it was mentioned that the old Passport expired in 2008 and you mention that she shouldn't have a problem "as long as it was issued after 01 July 2000."

As Aussie Passports are issued for 10 Years, if it expired in 2008, it must have been issued prior to 2000....but I could be wrong!

Just thought I'd mention it. Anyway, contact the Australian Embassy in BKK....Best of luck, hope it all works out for you both.
