Please see the attached correspondence with the UK Pass Port Office.

Might help you but too late for me I did all copies at 1 per Word A4 page.

If mods feel this is in the wrong place please feel free to move as appropriate.

Dear Passport Office

Please can you respond to the customers query.

My original question.

Title : Mr

First name: Redacted

Last name: Redacted

Email address Redacted

Nature of enquiry:

Hi

I am aware of the need to provide you with color copies of ALL pages of my due to expire Passport.

I am not sure as to format that will be acceptable.

My intention is to use a Word document that has 8 double pages of the passport per A4 Word page

Can you please confirm that this will be acceptable to your agent in Bangkok Thailand?

I am writing to you because they do not respond.

I hope they understood your email.

It seems to me what you proposed doing would require a serious reduction in size of the pages to the point where they might not even be legible.

They seem to be happy with it, but not you. There is the facility in a computerized document to zoom out. Ever tried it?

I think you have to supply printed out copies not a pen drive, dvd and etc or a link to to where you have them posted.

Do you mean you're going to send them the word document itself (as a file) or print it out? I'm guessing a file as you talk about zooming the pages to be able to read them. But why wouldn't you just copy all the pages normally?

Exactly - you have to sign them !

Don't think that this will work with the current VFS Trendy set up in BKK - they only use the email address for appointments or sending one back to the official HMPO uk gov web sites.

Trendy cannot read or write English very well so don't expect them to understand any additional requests you attach to your '3x appointment' email, but when you arrive you get a queue number then are sent to one specific Thai lady sitting at the only desk that deals with passports.

Suspect the answer you will get is the Thai 'cannot', note that there aren't any UK/Embassy staff there you can appeal to.

So I strongly suggest that you should take individual colour copies of your passport as a backup, else you may have just wasted a potentially very expensive trip to save a few satang on colour printing costs.

Either way, this forum will be interested to hear how it goes with the VFS trendy people

It would have been interesting but isn't going to be as OP didn't in fact do what he was asking about.

Ah , didn't spot that line in the OP

I feel I may have misled folks.

The use of pen drive to enable the Word file to be zoomed is plainly not acceptable.

I accept and can confirm from experience that the Trendy people do not speak good English and waving the E mail from the Pass Port Office suggesting that multiple pages per A4 are acceptable is likely to engender the typical Thai response, rolling of the eyes and and dumb a expression.

When I visited Trendy I did use 1 A4 page per Pass Port opening.

On reflection its probably best to do this as it was accepted.

The debate has been useful but I have nothing further to contribute.

So we had better not be surprised, then, should HMPO add further to the burdens they have imposed on us by requiring us all to pass a suitably advanced proficiency test in the Thai language before we can renew our passports here, solely in order to make life easier for the With-It mob in their dealings with us. This would also make it possible for them to introduce a special renewal form for use by applicants in Thailand, which is solely in - and has to be completed in - the Thai language.

Think I'm joking? So would many of us 6 months ago at the prospect of the renewal procedures we're now expected to follow, I'm sure.
