Pattaya to Demolish Buildings Tresspassing onto Public Canal

p400.jpeg
PATTAYA – April 22, 2014 [PDN]; Due to the heavy rain in Pattaya city during rainy season which causes flooding problems the Administrators of Pattaya city have indicated that it was not only the high tide but also the slow drainage which caused the floods in Pattya. The slow drainage is due to lots of buildings being built over and on the drainage canal.

Amphur Banglamung had sent an official team in to inspect the canal in South Pattaya which is approximately 2 meters in width. They found that there were a total of 14 businesses that have constructed various types of buildings and bridges that trespass onto the canal and have also pile-drived cement poles into the bed of the canal to build the building foundations.

Yeak, like that will solve all the drainage issues that Pattaya has.

And anyway, why are they calling a drainage ditch a "canal"?
