With our new house, we came into a few huge flower bowls with small, nice coloured fishes inside.

There are also some kind of water plants in the bowls.

First thing was to move them into a shadowed place.

Wife cleaned the water from all of them, but if I remember correctly, in Germany a friend of mine put some additive in the water of his outdoor "aquariums"...(?)

Is this necessary here, and if yes what to buy?

thanks in advance.

We just change the water occasionally.

If you have enough plants and not too many fish you'll create a mini ecosystem and everything will balance up.

be very carefull with the water expecially now there is a shortage,we have a 50ltr.tank and change the water weekly and give it a couple of sqirts with RQ.CONTRACT CHLORINE anyone selling fish should stock it,comes in red and white small plastic bots.

enough to treat 200 gallons.

the last time we three parts drained our garden pond 3000lts.the water was so bad you could smell the chlorine and straight away the fish became distressed,we lost 4 and we would have lost more or all 20 if we had not had R.Q.

We have this (sometimes bad) chlorine smell too, but for the fishes, we're filling the tap water in separate 80l tanks (together with rain water, if any) and after a few days, the chlorine smell is almost no more noticeable.

But I will definitely look for this "RQ.CONTRACT CHLORINE"

Yepp...normally, but with our, more than crappy water quality here in Pattaya, I fear to kill or poison the fishes, when changing the water.

Although we try to use only stagnant water. ^^
