Better not make any negative comments.

They might have lese majeste laws in the Republic of Somalia too.

No need to worry about Somalia, it is the Thai law you need be concerned with because, I beleive, it apples to all Monarchs.

Now, does anyone know where I can download the BBC's recording of "Round the Horn" about the (fictional) state visit if King Gruntfuttock the first of Peasmoldia? Did he not become "Emperor" In later episodes? The golden age of BBC radio comedy.

"MFA statement said he was most likely a personal representative of Mr. Mohamed because Thailand has no official diplomatic channels with Somalia and there is Somalian embassy in Bangkok."

Do Somalia have any Somalian embassy in Thailand, Bangkok ????

This can only happen in countries who think there is actual royalty. Try that in a republic with only a president or better yet only a PM and the prince would have been lucky to bum of a bus ticket to the garden.

Wait a minute, this could be an excellent opportunity for CT-PM Yingluck to establish a monumental trade and tourism deal with another African nation. I can see Yingluck frothing at the mouth as she tells the world that she is relevant and has a major accomplishment now under her belt. "Welcome Somalia to Thailand".

TAT has an ad campaign welcoming Somalians as we speak.

Thai at heart post # 12

Why is this news?

To show us just how illiterate the M.F.A. and the Thai executives are at Nong Nuch Garden, hopefully they will indeed soon be EX executives.

Yesterday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement explaining that Mr. Mohamed was in fact a "community leader" in the Somalian state of Puntland, meaning he is an heir to the throne of one many tribal groups in the region.

Did they do they not understand what a republic is at the M.F.A.?

The manager website floated the story. Why? Who knows and who cares.

I still wonder. Why is this news?

he would like to encourage Thai tourists to visit Somalia

Yes, please do exactly that. Maybe hold a tuk tuk and baht bus exhibit there and fly them all in for free.

Better yet, con the Ichitan Group to pay for it all. Then let the Somalis do what they do best. tongue.png

"The Somalian VIP identified in media reports as the "King of Somalia" likely was not a scam or impostor, just a victim of poor translation and fact-checking.

The man shown in photographs meeting with Thai officials at a Chonburi province park was the leader of a particular clan in the Puntland, according to a Somalian journalist.

"Beeldaje Maxamed literally means 'Community leader' Mohamed," replied Cleophus "Tres" Thomas, III., to an inquiry from Coconuts. "His full title/name is Beeldaaje Mohamed Beeldaaje Ismaciil, and he's basically the clan 'leader' of Puntland's Ali Saleban sub-clan, which is under the Darod-Majerteen clan family."

Umm yeah - just spent the last couple hours reading up on the Ali Saleban sub-clan. Nothing outrageous of course. Just ties to pirates, Al-Shabaab terrorists and such. Various articles in the

Most of the news is a couple years old now. Of course, not everyone in the Ali Saleban sub-clan is a pirate and/or terrorist the same as not everyone from Bangkok is a Yellow Shirt, or everyone from Pattaya is a bar worker.

They should feel right at home, with all the M-79's being fired around.

A Somali journalist named Cleophus Trees Thomas III sounds as unlikely as a " crown prince from the Republic of Puntland.

My leg feels like it is getting a good yank! :)
