This is the arena that Thaksin, Pheu Thai, the UDD - and their supporters - prefer to have with Abhisit. It has nothing to do with that he proposed. It has to do with mockery. Nattawut " I will take responsibility, my brother's " Saikua is the last person to make a mockery of anyone after his speech at Ratchaprason which was captured by youtube four years ago. So the less said about such charlatanism the better. In terms of Thaksin's son, we can easily overlook that as well and view instead the man who prompted him to make that statement. It wasn't Thaksin's son that felt sick after watching Abhisit. It was Thaksin. And the reason why it made Thaksin sick are numerous. First, he hates Abhisit. But it's much more than that. Thaksin knows that Abhisit's appeal was going to sound reasonable and make the rounds nationally and internationally. It did. But he also knew that Abhisit's appeal for sitting down was not what Thaksin wants. Thaksin needs conflict. Thaksin and the UDD have always needed conflict. He needs a narrative of conflict, not only against the courts but against any of who he still openly refers to as his " enemies ". That's the mind-set that Thaksin is caught up in. He may speak about forgiveness from time to time, but this is a man who never forgives. And he never forgets. But the thing that Thaksin most hates about Abhisit and his address is that Abhisit plainly made it clear that the Democratic party was as responsible as everyone else for the current state of affairs. That was a powerful thing for Abhisit to say, and left a very strong impression, because it showed a real sincerity to find a resolution. Why do we know that Thaksin hated that ? Because Nattawut never mentioned it, that's why. And Thaksin's son never mentioned it, either. In fact, Thaksin's son not only ignored it but pressed the exact opposite narrative - by claiming that the current situation was completely the fault of the Democrats. So the extended hand was purposefully ignored. Because they don't want that. And in terms of the childish challenge of comparing the popularity of tapes, perhaps one should extend the quest further. After all, Thaksin himself has made many, many hysterical and fiery tapes in transmissions to UDD rallies. I wonder how many of them stack up in maturity and appeal to what we saw from Abhisit this week ? But then again, Pheu Thai supporters must remind themselves never to talk about content. They do far better that way.Talk about ties, mockery, and attempts to sit down and reach a conciliation. By all means, focus upon that.

Do you know hoe Abhisit obtained his seat in the House? In the west, such an appointment is often called patronage or parachuting a person into the position. You judge Oak harshly because his father is wealthy. Well, here's a news flash: So is my father. Does this automatically make me a "bad" person? Is it Oak's fault that his father loves him and took care of him? I appreciate that many westerners have difficulty with the concept of taking care of children and of parents, but this is a large component of Thai culture.

He is a Thai national who has been attacked and insulted by a Thai political faction. He has a right to defend himself and his family. I think it has to do with the perception that it's a question of right and wrong for you when Thaksin & Co. are attacked on TVF.

Might be wrong but don't recall you getting so riled up when multiple false statements were spewed the other direction.

Don't take me wrong - I don't personally have an issue with people supporting one side or another, choosing which posts and topics they wish to comment on etc., just that your position is obviously (at least to most, I think) not very neutral on these matters.

I do agree that the gay slurs (or whatever people wish to call them) aren't appropriate. No interest in his sexual preferences, but still think he's a spoiled rich brat. If memory serves, he DID admit trying to cheat, and was miraculously cleared a few weeks later when the institution reviewed its position vs. Daddy. You are free to believe this was an honest mistake.
