Prices of Mama noodles to remain unchanged

BANGKOK, 28 April 2014, (NNT) - Thailand’s manufacturer of the famous 'Mama'instant noodle has affirmed that it will not increase the prices of its popular items, despite the fact that the company could be in the red.

According to Mr.Pipat Paniengvet, the CEO of the Thai President Foods Public Company Limited, the maker of Mama noodles, has confirmed that the company has no plan to increase the prices of its products at this time, even though production costs have been rising constantly. Mama noodles are selling at 6 baht per pack.

The CEO has also affirmed that his company will stick with its philosophy of providing whatever little help it possibly could to consumers, who have been being affected by the high cost of living at present.

The claim has also been verified by the Department of Internal Trade (DIT), which stated it has not received any request to adjust up the prices of instant noodles. According to DIT Deputy Director General Santi Sarathawanpat, the items’ wholesale prices will likely be slightly increased, as the manufacture will probably try to cut its costs by reducing the discount given to retailers. He said he would look into the matter in details today.

Santi further explained that fierce competition in the instant noodles market and high demands for the products are the main reasons why manufacturers opt to mintain the same price tags over an extended period of time.

Yingluck will be happy about something this week then. After all; she did tell everyone that price rises were 'all in your head ' and weren't actually happening at all.

Translation. We are increasing our price to the retailer. If they increase their prices by preserving their margins then your problem is with 7-11. And not with our homegrown manufacturer.

Bad multinational retailers. Bad!

Did someone notice by the way that Nissin 1 a cup noodles, the biggest noodle maker in Asia, have disappeared from the shelves of every major supermarket since several weeks ago.

When one is poor, theres not much discussion of "MSG", "Transfats", or even "Omega3s". Its about getting as much effective nourishment as possible for the baht. So in that regard, I salute the company................... if the story is truewai.gif .........Yep, Im a cynictongue.png

Plus they are pretty tasty noodles!

Agree but in this case there is as much nourishment in the plastic wrapping as there is in the noodles..

Or they keep the price the same, but make the pack 20% smaller.

Plastic food for plastic people!

I never know if I should eat the inside or the packing.....the packing is most probably more healthy.

Bet PTP are relieved, an increase in Mama noodles right now would have certainly finished them off!

Nearly, needs to be linked to the price of rolling tobacco, beetle nuts and Lao Khao.

Millions of toothless pissed up grannies who smell a bit funny would have hit the streets in numbers never before thought possible.

Mama noodles are great. 25p per pack in our local Thai shop here in the UK. Much spicier and tastier than the usual UK offerings and for a quarter of the price.

Boil the kettle, cover the noodles with the boiled water, throw in the MSG, transfats and herbs and crack in an egg or two and nuke for two to three minutes. Tasty, quick and cheap.

I quite like Mama noodles.

A quick and tasty snack at any time of the day or night.

I use to think the same. Until a friend told me to read the label. It's not a very healthy meal...quite the contrary, actually.

I go to bed every night worried about the mama noodle prices. wub.png

No problem then. Just don't go to bed with a bowl of Mama noodles in your hand. You'll be drinking water all night.
