IPTV in Chiang Mai.

With the up coming world cup and the poor quality of local broadcasters I am in the market of getting an IPTV box.

I would like to hear some reviews of TV users that already have it.

What is your internet speed, is it reliable, what server do you use, what brand box, what is your monthly fee, what kind of channels they have, etc...

thanks for any replies.

I have been using an IPTV box for some years. The price through an agent in BKK was about 11,000 baht. There are the occasional problems with disruption, which IPTV always blame on my internet provider, even if only a few channels have a problem, which means it cannot be the internet at fault. Usually picture and sound quality ok.

Not sure off hand about my internet speed. It's been installed with WIFI modem by True. Cost ca. 900 baht per month.

Cost for box ca 39 Euros per month, best paid via Paypal.

There is no address or tel. number given by IPTV, but e-mails are usually answered quickly. The service/support seems to be in Spain. There is no service arrangement. The boxes are manufactured in Kasachstan.

Worth trying.

Why not just get a modem with dd-wrt installed (Or install yourself. Free). Then contact / set up an account with hidemyass or something.. and you can watch television from your home country online for "free" + with a roku box and so on, or simply plug html cabel into television from pc. Then you got football on your television.. Ok, you need cover 8usd for hidemyass server per month + your normal internet charges.. But .. Just thinking, its an extra option.. Tons of countries shows sport live on their website, but many times you cant see because your not in uk or denmark, sweden or usa or... The hidemyass setup makes those problems go away = you can look football all day if you like ;-) .. And no 11000b setup charges..

If you have an Apple TV box (costs around 3,800 THB ) connected to your tv then you can 'mirror' what is displayed on your ipad to your tv via the Apple TV I.e. What is displayed on your ipad screen will also be displayed on your tv screen

Some apps on the ipad go one stage better and have an option to send their content directly to the Apple TV. This is better than 'mirroring' because the ipad has a display ratio of 4:3 (old fashioned tv screen) and so when mirrored to a modern wide screen tv the picture will not fill up your screen and you will have black bars on the left and right side of your picture. If the content is sent directly to the Apple TV by the app then the picture will fill up the whole of your screen

Hope that helps

I can just plug in a HDMI cable and watch my Mac laptop on the big screen TV. I don't need an Apple box. The part of which I am totally ignorant is how to use IPTV for the World Cup. Do you just stream it from somewhere? Do you get HD quality? Is it reliable? What type of internet connection should I have? etc etc.

Does that work outside Thailand?

Hi Chicog, No I don't think so,as i once read a report from a guy who

had it on his laptop and took it to Malaysia and it did not work, never tried

it myself but, also they have a different system now,so maybe if you tried

it,as i believe they have a few free channels as well, before it just worked

from the browser, now it works through Adobe Air ,don't know if that would

make a difference.

Just get a vpn for about 300-400Baht a month and go to koisports.com or similar site and watch tv and sports from all over the world for nothing

and remember to get adplus and adblock in your browsers extensions they work extremely well in blocking all the popup ads on the net

Hi Pom66, if you are paying 300-400 bht p.m. it does not work out for free,

and you would need a pretty good Internet connection as VPN s slows the

speeds down,so not very reliable.for about the same money you could

get just about all the channels, all in one place, and which works perfectly

with lower bandwidth.

I have been reading up on all these packages but this one is 'hacked' right? that's why there is no web site or clear place to sign-up? it also 'drops' a lot because someone changes IP and it has to be 're-hacked'? this is what I have read so be happy to read (with evidence) that it is not so? cheers
