May 3, 201412 yr My wife and I have been teachers for a few months in Phuket, and are leaving sooner than we thought....this week. We had quite a bit of baht saved up and need to exchange it to USD before we leave. We went to the bank we have an account with (SCB) and the teller said we couldn't exchange any there. I think it mostly had to do with us being in the Thalang District. She gave us the numbers for Patong and Phuket Town, which we'll try once the business week starts again. But, any suggestions on how to get 100,000+ baht exchanged in a relatively short amount of time? I found a website online phuketcurrency.com, but they didn't have a ton of information. Does anyone know anything about them, are they legit? Thanks
May 4, 201412 yr At the basement entrance to jungceylon all the major banks have a branch grouped together one should be able to help you, I use SCB there for changing into USD when required for travel
May 4, 201412 yr most all banks in Patong will change for you. If they dont have it they will tell you come back the next day and ask how much you want. I find the bank across from the scb on 2nd road gives the best rates AS to Central, i tried once about 4 months ago an NOT ONE bank would sell $$ Edited May 4, 201412 yr by phuketrichard

The bank opposite Bangkok bank and next to UOB will change into $ but only 100$ notes. Best rate you will get at the Exchange/Moneychanger in the middle of the bank floor. They also have small notes. Don't forget your passport for larger amount. Comfortable and easy there.
