In the usa they would start kindergarten at 5 and anything before that is basically playtime at nursery school. I think 13 years of lower education is a lot but my wife thinks they need to start at 3 years old.

Generally age 3 which is just glorified babysitting, school technically is age 4 but not much different initially as they seem to spend time just watching Tv.

Yeah 3 or 4 years of age for Anuban 1. My daughter started at 3 yrs 3 months but the majority of her classmates are a year older, some of the parents put thier kids in at 4 so they 'have some sort of advantage' over thier younger classmates..suppose it is just glorified nursery for the first couple of years but its good for them to get into a routine and develop some social skills.

Should we talk about your mother? No? Get the idea? A topic is a guideline for discussion. If school children were allowed to talk about anything they thought was crap it would be chaos.

Topics on a forum are like roads when driving. If you get off the road it creates problems. I know every topic in some peoples mind is a Thai bashing topic but some of us get tired of it. So if you want to open a topic on the crap Thai education system go ahead. If not stay on topic.

Than was my point. The thread is not about mothers or bad schools or good schools. It's about what age do children start school.

Thanks for all the input...I think 4 will be the age for my children

Just make sure to bring them in after all the nonsense morning conditioning about how great they as Thais, and you know who are.

Why not? It's crap.

Why not it's great? Same reason. It has nothing to do with the topic.

If you looked up at 14:28 you would have seen my post flying over your head.

Off topic troll. If you have a point make it. If not...

The quality of Thai education has nothing to do with what age children start school.

Whoosh.

I didn't think you'd be less educated than 'rayongchelsea', but hey, there ya go, life's full of little surprises. :)

My sons just started (summer camp) starts on the 17th ( I think) officially, at 2 and a half years old, there are younger ones than him or seem to be.

As someone says it's babysitting really due to having to work.

I think most start at 4.

Some learn quite a bit in Aunban. I always found that if the parents were bright and motivated they passed it along to the children. Thais have different patterns of socialization than you are used to or understand and that is one of the reasons why school is started so young.
