Hi All,

I hope somebody here can help. We plan to spend summer months in Europe this year, and I look for an insurance that will cover us in the EU. Unfortunately, our son has a chronic problems with kidney, from birth. Hence, not insured.

We have his health condition under control, but I am worried that in case (very low probability but still) he is unexpectedly required to spend at least a night over there in a hospital, I may not be able to pay.

Most insurance agents when they hear about any decease that exists already say it is not covered.

However, I know that quite a few insurance companies all over the world provide travel insurance that covers a pre-existing condition when it is an emergency, not a planned treatment. Perhaps as extra option or a special insurance. Those European companies that do have it mostly for residents of their countries.

I need to find one in Thailand. Perhaps anybody here can point me to one? Please do not point me to call centers of large insurance companies with words 'go ask them' - they do not know much besides standard, and always say yes to every question before you buy.

A large Danish insurance company (my son has two passports, Thai and Danish) with profile in travel insurances told me that 'it is a bit of a grey zone, all depends if their experts in case of claim will conclude if we might have been expecting it or not. Some assurance)

Thanks to all of you in advance.

I used Liason Continent travel insurance from Seven Corners. It covered 'sudden onset' of my per-existing condition. http://www2.sevencorners.com/liaison-continent/

I shop for travel insurance at Squaremouth.com because of their search features and Zero Complaint Guarantee., which states We work on your behalf. If any one of our clients has a complaint against a provider that cannot be resolved to our satisfaction, we will remove the provider from our site and no longer sell its products. Note it's their satisfaction not the customers. In 95% of all insurance complains the customer doesn't have a case because it usually comes down to 3 things: I thought I was covered, I should have been covered, what do you mean I have to follow the terms of the agreement when making a claim.
