Does anyone think the new recent ruling on border crosses will terribly effect tourism in Thailand (besides a few broken hearts) albeit a temporary affair or as a permanent feature.

Probably not much.

Please explain your reasoning behind this considering other countries will also be brought into this development !

So, now every time someone asks what you think about something, you have to explain it, too?

I think the rule hasn't been thought through, however I can see the reason to tighten up on those who live here, probably work illegally, and hop the border once a month.

For the teacher OP this new ruling, which is not really new, is a re-vamp of

an old rule that emerged several years ago, at least 6, and is unlikely to

adversely affect tourist numbers because I would think 95%+ genuine tourist

do not stay or want to stay for, or longer than, 30 days.

However I think the continued political unrest is and will continue to adversely

affect tourist numbers. sad.png

BTW scotBkk your thread should be entitled "Visa exempt entry" simply "Visa"

is misleading.

Sure. Cause most tourists stay under 30 days.

Political unrest will deter before the visa issue does.
