Two men shot dead in early morning shooting at Third Road Pub.

Just before 6am on Tuesday Morning Police were called to the Food Work Pub and Restaurant on Pattaya Third Road opposite Excite Discotheque to investigate a multiple shooting at the location. Police Lieutenant Colonel Chanatat was first on the scene and found the body’s of two men. One was lying on the pavement in front of the Pub and the other was lying on the floor just inside the entrance to the Pub. Shocked friends of the dead men were inside being comforted by staff.

The initial witness statements suggested that a Thai man driving a Mercedes Benz entered the pub alone and sat with the owner of the venue Khun Bae for almost one hour. Khun Bae left the Pub leaving the suspect alone. Staff mentioned that he then approached the two victims who were drinking together and claimed he was a new Pattaya Police Officer. The suspect then hit one of the men around the head and suggested the three should go outside and fight. The first victim to join the suspect at the front of the pub was Khun Jumlong aged 30. A fight between the two took place and moments later the suspect produced two hand guns and began shooting at Khun Jumlong who lay seriously injured on the footpath. The suspect then turned his attentions onto the other victim, Khun Somsak aged 41. The suspect opened fire and fatally wounded him.

Realizing that Khun Jumlong was not dead the shooter went back to him and shot him in the head in an execution style shooting. Police Lieutenant General Jongrak, the Region 2 Commander of Police later inspected the scene and revealed that the shooter had been identified. He is Khun Somnook aged 31 and a picture of him was presented to the media.

The General mentioned that a massive man hunt is now underway and Police have been given specific orders to shoot to kill if the suspect attempts to shoot at Police or other individuals. Furthermore the pub itself is now under scrutiny as it is an unlicensed establishment and failed to check customers prior to entry which is standard practice in other Pattaya Pubs and Nightclubs.

If you know who this man is please contact Police immediately and if you spot him please do not approach him as he is considered highly dangerous and will most likely be armed.

Something smells fishy. Owner talks to the guy for an hour, then leaves (though his bar stays open, well after 5am).

Then the statement "Furthermore the pub itself is now under scrutiny as it is an unlicensed establishment and failed to check customers prior to entry which is standard practice in other Pattaya Pubs and Nightclubs."

The ONLY club I've ever been checked, was the Blue Chili, once, two years ago. Maybe it only applies to Thai men ?

Pretty cold blooded and brutal slayings, especially if it was about the victims being a little too loud. Sounds more like a contracted killing, especially as the killer went back to finish off the first person he shot. The owner of the bar either contracted the hit, or is known to who ever did contract it. That would explain why he left just before the incident.

I'm sure there will be plenty of follow-up from the local news organizations. :o

Perhaps they failed to check that the other customers were all carrying firearms so to ensure an even fight :D

ok ... where's the ladymen from the OP?

:D

does sound rather like some kind of "hit" or revenge killing ... I assume by this time the shooter is dead or in custody?

It sounds like...they should have turned the sound down.... :o

Latest update from Thai newspapers June 14 2006:

It appears that the alleged killer and his girlfiend were trying to enjoy some food and time together, but the two victims, who were watching the Italy v Ghana game were becoming very noisy, due to the exciting match, which one of the dead had a financial interest in winning. They refused to quieten down. They were tall men, one from Pattaya, one from Isaan. The alleged killer was a small man, following the match he invited them outside for a fight; then he shot them dead.

He is a well known 'face' and has several businesses. Police have said unless he turns himself in, they will shoot him dead on sight.

The initial reports that they were ladymen seems inaccurate, they were indeed biological men, but there might be some confusion here with regards, outwards gender and/or sexuality of the victims.

Either way it is a tragic story. It seems being noisy, when a wealthy Thai asks you to quieten down, could be a risky business.

Here is the CNN version of the story:

Fans killed for cheering too much

Note that the names appear totally different than what was reported in the PCN story earlier in this thread. It seems only the ages of the victims match.

The last sentence of the CNN story:

"Pattaya, about 110 kilometers (70 miles) southeast of Bangkok, is known for its beaches, its thriving sex industry and high crime rate."

Yeah, more good publicity. :o
