connda
Wait, wait, wait. First Chalerm was going to do it by himself single handedly. Then it was, bring in SWAT. Now they need paratroopers. When does he ring up Nick Fury and have the members of S.H.I.E.L.D fly in to scoop up the evil Doctor Suthep and his PDRC army of whistle blowers. I'm sure Tony Stark (Iron Man) is a personal friend of our billionaire anti-hero in Dubai.
Robby nz
Perhaps they will use the same "Commando Police" that they sent after Ko Tee. No doubt with the same result
tezzainoz
Just heard that approval has been given to proceed with the arrests of the 51 PDRC leaders.....starting today! Let's see! Just hope it can proceed without any serious injury....I kinda doubt it though. Over the weekend the military chiefs and also the presiding judges of the courts Suthep appealed to have made clear invoking Section 7 would violate royal power, be unconstitutional and undemocratic. The courts below the CC are spurning Suthep and are giving the government the arrest warrants it had been seeking for months on end. No commander sends paratroopers descending into an urban area and certainly not into an urban area as dense as Bangkok is. You people have entirely missed the point, which was presented by a poster to the thread that paratroopers are useless in the air, to which I add not about to be dropped into a dense urban area. Paratroopers on the ground are nasty m-fers whether they are police or military. They are specialized in anti-terrorism, counter insurgency, mobile assaults and the like. As with the armed forces and their Special Operations Forces, the RTP Special Operations Units also include SWAT and commando units respectively that are well trained by the US, well led, well equipped and disciplined. The government has to move now to end this and the road has been cleared for the government to do so. and the protester will just stand there and clap Suthep real power is that of this government giving him ammo to tile up the people If yingluck had retired at the start Suthep would have been history months ago Lets look at he probable end to your above post Paratroopers come down People get upset and go to protect Suthep Paratrooper fire to protect them selves Protests die Publicus do you really want 2010 all over again y

Publicus
Paratroopers on the ground are nasty m-fers whether they are police or military. As with the armed forces and their Special Operations Forces, the RTP Special Operations Units also include SWAT and commando units respectively that are well trained by the US, well led, well equipped and disciplined. The government has to move now to end this and the road has been cleared for the government to do so. While it may be true that as an oversimplified, general rule most special forces learn how to jump out of a plane, all Airborne Soldiers are not necessarily special forces. At least in the US. You're talking about airborne soldiers compared to the separate and distinct Special Operations Forces of a military, while I'm talking about police and only referencing the military. Re-read my whole post if you need to, as many times as you may need to, rather than focus on a one paragraph fragment of my entire post. Neither does the one paragraph fragment you isolate from my post support your statement in your post. While you re-read the whole of my post, if you choose to do so, also keep in mind that while I've never been a police officer I know a few things about soldering. If you also know something about soldiering, then you should recognize my critique of your comment. If you haven't any military experience, then you might well miss it. I'm anyway confident you're capable of recovering lost ground.

Hopefully Suthep is willing to negotiate terms of some kind of mutual accommodation. Practically everyone has turned against him save for a pack of die-hard keyboard warriors at TVF who don't realize the term is the title of a series of violent tuff-guy Hollywood action movies. The keyboard warriors here want to use maximum force immediately and in all directions while the military and the police along with the adults here would avoid the state using force and violence, and prefer instead to do everything possible to prevent violence and armed force being applied. This is Thai against Thai in Thailand so the keyboard warriors need to bugger off for a while, give 'em some needed room.

Don't try to tell me in your own mind what I want. All the pressure and much state power and authority are being directed at Suthep and his PDRC to quit, cease, desist. Suthep supposedly is in a meeting now with senators, or at least some certain senators. Let's give 'em some elbow room, see what may come of it. PDRC violence and the use of state armed force is the last resort. While the keyboard warriors are commencing their fire and blasting away in all directions, let's let the authorities who are responsible for life, state security, public safety, try peaceful means. Shaunduhpostman
Just got off the phone with my boss, the other Robert from America, Robert Rodriguez. And the word is that Machete Cortez doesn't like what's going on in Thailand. He's on his way over now as we speak. It's kind of too bad it has come to this, but it looks like Chalerm and co. are going to have to deal with Machete now. Benmart
I notice half the Foreign police volunteers have wings on their uniforms, is this the elite force they are going to use?? Ah yes, the wings on the uniforms.....touchy subject. If they jump 3 times off a platform which is about 5 metres off the ground in a tethered safety harness.....it ranks as 3 parachute jumps - and then you get your wings. I've heard such awards, badges and trinkets refered to as "Good Housekeeping Badges". Certain camps seem to delight in decorating their uniforms with such adornments. It is comical when I see them on television, while at the same time marginalizing those that rightly earned them.

Or was that not relevant to this , and if not ,why not? Confused!? Seems to be the trend nowadays: only listen to the courts if they rule against the other side..... Would be indeed nice for the CC to come forward and to clarify their ruling as to who is allowed to do what..... They did. He remains in his internal security role. He is not a cabinet minister though.

Dogmatix
Is Niwatthamrong willing to take responsibility for whatever CAPO does. If he is really acting caretaker PM, then CAPO reports to him, since it was appointed by his predecessor? Seems like he was put up as another puppet with Thaksin pulling the strings and wanting revenge. But it could go badly for him, if people die and he gets charged with dereliction of duty for failing to control the mad dogs. Perhaps he assumes that he will get the boot from the NACC before anything can go wrong. So just sit back and tune into Skype.
