If ever a crisis required people sitting down and talking, this is it - many times over. And yet, whenever people have tried to suggest just that - whether they be Abhisit or Surachai - they are immediately drowned out by a sea of intransigence. So when Jatuporn stands up and says - " this is what we want, don't do this and don't do that - or they'll be trouble " - and then goes on to say - " and don't sit down and talk either - talking's forbidden. " When that happens you lock yourselves into a crisis. Not only is the door slammed on issues. But the door is slammed on any outreach whatsoever. That's a recipe for hurtling over the edge. And that is precisely what is happening now. Jatuporn is already vaulting out of control. He's threatened civil war. Now he is threatening Surachai. When the DSI and CAPO are under the control of a man who refuses to abide by a Constitutional Court ruling - there is no reason left. Not one charge against Jatuporn has been filed during this period, and the investigation into the infamous February 23 UDD rally where secession was openly promoted was quickly swept under the carpet by Chalerm, who dismissed it as groundless. In the meantime, DSI has to rent new filing space for all the charges they've piled on Suthep. Pheu Thai's newly chosen PM has claimed a legal mandate. But what he has actually inherited is the most dysfunction period in many, many years.

Section 7 is a non-starter.

Saturday last the military joint chiefs met and Gen Prayuth in their behalf stated the whole of the military rejects a Section 7 action, that is, to appoint a competing PM . Prayuth's statement was absolute. No if ands or but. The bogus argument there currently isn't a PM is vacuous, specious, a pretext to complete the coup begun by the judges last week.

Sunday a presiding judge spoke (anonymously) for the other presiding judges to which Suthep had appealed over the weekend to jointly execute a Section 7 action, saying the presiding judges of the various courts absolutely opposed a Section 7 action as a violation of royal power, unconstitutional, undemocratic.

I say again, the chiefs of the armed forces and the principal presiding judges in the judiciary below the CC absolutely oppose any Section 7 action and they all oppose it on the basis it would be a violation of royal power, be unconstitutional, undemocratic.

The CC in its judicial coup order removing YS and the Nine directed the remaining Cabinet to choose a PM, which the Cabinet did do. The military joint chiefs, the presiding judges, the rest of the government and the Thai people accept the new PM and continue to ignore Suthep, his cave men of the PDRC, the eunuch Abhisit and the vanishing DP.

The Thai people want Suthep to go home and for the feudalists to accept reality so all the madness can end. The feudalists of the PDRC and DP however keep on obsessing, scheming, disrupting, causing chaos and uncertainty, violating the constitution they pretend to protect.

Time however continues to be on the side of the government, and time is running out for the feudalists. The armed forces are against any Section 7 action and so are the presiding judges below the CC. A Section 7 action by the senate with Suthep and the PDRC is now the real threat to peace and order.

The military joint chiefs and supreme commander met to deliberate and have concluded their position.

The presiding judges of a number of courts below the CC have met to deliberate and have concluded their position.

The deliberated and considered position is that any Section 7 action would be a violation of royal power, unconstitutional, undemocratic.

The CC in its partial coup order directed the remaining Cabinet to deliberate to select a PM, which the Cabinet did do.

Now Suthep and the PDRC, along with a bunch of appointed senators, want to appoint a competing PM. The elected senators are against it based on their deliberations, their analysis and assessments, their evaluations, their synthesis of all information and points of view from their standpoint as elected senators.

Suthep, the PDRC and the body of appointed senators have devised their own scheme to appoint a competing PM. This would be disastrous to Thailand. No successful government or country has competing prime ministers. The plotters of the PDRC, Suthep, appointed senators, are out of line and are out of order. They are conducting themselves in violation of royal power, the constitution, the principles of democracy stated in the constitution.

It's past time these guys gave up the ghost and went home.

Well, no one ever said an association has to have democratic elections. People join because they want to.

But this does remind me of the Democrat party, which had an election for leader last December. 35 leaders were allowed to vote, and they had only one candidate (Abhisit), who got 98% of the vote. Coincidently, North Korea held an election the following week under similar rules and Kim also got 98% of the vote.

Redshirts Warn Senate Not To Invoke Article 7

Senate Speaker Surachai Liangboonlertchai welcoming PCAD leader Suthep Thaugsuban into the House of Parliament to discuss plans for an appointed PM, 12 May 2014.

BANGKOK — The Redshirts have issued yet another threat to stage a massive uprising if the Senate accepts anti-government protesters' demand for an appointed Prime Minister.

Speaking to a crowd of pro-government supporters on the third day of their rally at Aksa Avenue in western Bangkok, Redshirt leader Jatupon Prompan criticised Senate Speaker Surachai Liangboonlertchai’s decision to meet in person with the leader of anti-government movement inside the House of Parliament yesterday.

Suthep Thaugsuban, leader of the People's Committee for Absolute Democracy With the King As Head of State (PCAD), was given a grand welcome at the Parliament - despite the arrest warrants on Mr. Suthep - and was granted a private audience with Mr. Surachai for nearly an hour. Journalists were not allowed to observe their discussion.

Mr. Suthep has been urging the Senate to appoint a new Prime Minister with a royal endorsement from His Majesty the King. Mr. Suthep claims this move is legal under Article 7 of the Thai Constitution.

The government has dismissed the proposal as unconstitutional and insisted that the caretaker PM, Niwatthamrong Boonsongphaisarn, will stay on until the next election on July 20.

A number of appointed Senators have voiced their support for Mr. Suthep’s plan, leading pro-government supporters to suspect that the Senate may soon vote to appoint an unelected PM.

In his speech today, Mr. Jatupon said Senators risk becoming the servants of Mr. Suthep. The Redshirt leader lambasted Mr. Surachai for "conspiring" with Mr. Suthep in a bid to oust the elected government.

"Mr. Surachai has lost his dignity. He is no gentleman. He should know that Thais must live under the laws," Mr. Jatupon said.

Mr. Jatupon also challenged Mr. Surachai to reveal his true colours by granting Mr. Suthep's wish for the Senate to vote on an appointed PM.

"We UDD [the United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship] like challenges. If Mr. Surachai is confident that Mr. Suthep can protect him, then he should just go for a royally-appointed PM under Article 7."

While Mr. Jatupon stressed that the Redshirts will hold their position on Aksa Avenue, he confirmed that they will immediately "escalate" their rally and possibly march to central Bangkok if the Senate invokes Article 7.

"So will the Senate use Article 7? Let us know soon. When Mr. Suthep is about to move, the UDD will move as well," Mr. Jatupon said to a loud cheer by the Redshirts.

Mr. Jatupon also questioned why Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha, commander-in-chief of the Royal Thai Army, has not ordered the troops to vacate the Government House even though Mr. Suthep has announced his plan to seize the compound as his new "office."

"Why is Gen. Prayuth letting his subordinates accommodate the rebels?” Mr. Jatupon asked. “The military lets Mr. Suthep enter and use the area inside the Government House, they claim that they didn't want any clash. If one day Mr. Suthep is so arrogant that he wants to use the headquarters of the Royal Thai Army as his office, does it mean he can do so?"

Although Mr. Surachai has not openly stated his views on invoking Article 7, pro-government protesters suspect that he is highly sympathetic to the idea because of his backing from the appointed Senators - a pro-establishment faction in the Senate considered to be hostile to the current government.

Mr. Suthep has announced that he will give the Senate until the end of this week to decide on the invocation of Article 7. When the ultimatum expires, Mr. Suthep has said he will appoint himself as "Sovereign Body" and directly seek a royal intervention.
