newcomer71
It's sadder by the day to read Thailand news... This country that was a peaceful spot in SE Asia is becoming every day more similar to the Far West... Unhappily greedy people are leaders of this Nation, and they will never leave the grip of power, causing more harm to the country, more death on the streets, and anarchy to spread. How I wish to listen some wisdom word from both side leaders, where they both condemn violence and thuggish actions instead spew more poisonous words and make situation more tense by the days. I wish everyone that is involved and used by the greedy people of both sides could reason about what's happening and stop this crazy time.
geriatrickid
Smelling civil war. When the judges are just puppets and the police not allowed to make its job => only violence remains. Remember the protest by the police in December when one of their officers was murdered? BANGKOK, Thailand -- Thai police staged a protest Monday to show their frustration after weeks of dealing with aggressive and often violent anti-government demonstrators, with officers saying that the order for them to show restraint has left them vulnerable and humiliated. About 500 police with family and friends gathered in a public square near the main protest camp in Bangkok, four days after a policeman was shot dead in a pitched battle with demonstrators who were trying to stop candidates from registering for February elections. Most police are allowed to carry only batons and riot shields, while selected officers are equipped with tear gas canisters and guns to fire rubber bullets. Orders to show restraint have resulted in police several times being trapped by demonstrators and forced to bargain for their release. The Associated Press Published Monday, December 30, 2013 8:49AM Are you defending the Thai police force? No. Just posting relevant background information. The police have been blocked from taking decisive action against protestors. Are you expecting the Thai police who have only batons and shields to take on heavily armed protestors? Only some segments of the police have been allowed to use teargas and other non lethal means. deepcell
I think the political instability is not happening only in Thailand but across the globe, we must realize that we are in crisis, humanity is in crisis. Chupup
Are the pro-Govt lackeys still going to try to pretend this is all self-inflicted by PDRC? Or can we lay it to bed now that the pro-Govt supporters are attacking the anti-Govt supporters and have been doing so since this all started? Sounds VERY much like the truth to me
Popular Post AleG
The Thai people want their country back. This group of a handful of protestors and some elite friends are commandeering their country and they have had enough. The extremists will be the first to speak with actions when words are not loud enough, but eventually the usurped majority will stand up and take back and defend what is theirs if it continues to be denied them. So, PDRC, expect more, much more, if you continue to deny the people their democratic rights. You do realize you are justifying and legitimizing terrorism, don't you? No. Just posting relevant background information. The police have been blocked from taking decisive action against protestors. Are you expecting the Thai police who have only batons and shields to take on heavily armed protestors? Only some segments of the police have been allowed to use teargas and other non lethal means. Nothing is stopping the police from finding and arresting the terrorists behind the dozens of attacks against anti-government protestors and innocent bystanders. Since they are able to find and arrest people that have attacked or defended against Red Shirts it is not a matter of them being unable to do their job, rather that they are unwilling to do so.
Popular Post Chupup
Doesn't anybody recognise that Thailand is a democracy and should be proud of that? Some may not like the government but you change it through the ballot box not with the gun. I read so many things here about corruption etc., but is it really any different anywhere else? I have arrived from the UK and are the politicians there squeaky clean? I think not judging by how many went to jail and many that should have gone to prison for blatantly fiddling their expenses. Please excuse my ignorance in Thai politics but having only been here a couple of months it seems to me that one side cannot win an election legally so they resort to bringing down the government in non-constitutional ways. That is not how a democracy works. I don't know if Yingluck was good or bad, it depends who you talk too, but she did hold the prime office which should be respected. If Thailand doesn't want her put your cross somewhere else. Thailand is a wonderful country full of so many good things it must find a way to solve this crisis legally and within its constitution not with threats and disruption. You should do a little research , then read your own post again, as for UK MPs fiddling their expenses they went to jail, here billions are fiddled and MPs walk

I will post some relevant information too. The only time that the reds got caught with weapons (remember that war arsenal) was with a combined force of army and police. The police alone who are known red sympathizers never found a thing. So one can wonder how effective the police is. CAPO is protecting the red shirts who never been attacked but do gun down children and then on stage gloat about it. Only to be hushed silent because its a major PR disaster.
Popular Post rabas
This is very worrisome, but predictable. I jokingly suggested yesterday that Thaksin will hit the ceiling when he sees images of Suthep sitting, smiling at Govt House under a large picture of His Majesty. The symbolism should be clear for those who understand what's going on and know Thaksin's past. Last night's attack at Victory Monument was a lets kill as many as we can move, instead of blowing up a few to intimidate. There was also an unusual attack at Chaengwattana, a long, slow series of ping pong bombs interspersed with M79s. Looked like the ping pongs were being used to draw the guards out in the open for targeting. Things have changed. JSPS
It's tragic that two people lost their lives in this attack. But it is difficult to know where the lay the blame. Both sides are playing to the domestic and international audience by trying to claim the "victim" card. "Oh, poor us, see what those meanies did to us?" Cynical? Guilty? Realistic? Also guilty.
