Suthep vows to surrender, stop rallies by May 27 if remaining Cabinet members not resign

Suthep Thaugsuban, secretary general of the People's Democratic Reform Committee, announced Saturday if not enough people come out to join his rallies to pressure the 24 remaining ministers to resign by May 26, he will surrender to police on the following day.

He said if the people do not come out in the number of over one million to support his campaign, he would stop the fight on May 27.

He said he could not afford fighting longer than May 26 because the country has already suffered severely.

Suthep said the latest round of fight will begin at 10 am this Sunday when he will summon state enterprises to a meeting to give them assignments for the latest round of fight.

At 2 pm on Sunday, he will invite retired permanent secretaries and department chiefs to a meeting to draft operation plans for various government agencies.

On Monday, the demonstrators will be dispatched to various ministries or residences of remaining ministers to demand them to submit their resignations.

Suthep said the people would hound the 24 remaining ministers wherever they go to demand them to resign. He would welcome tips from the public about the whereabouts of the ministers.

On Monday, he would encourage government officials, who are supporter of the PDRC, to rise up and refuse to carry out orders of the remaining ministers.

Suthep said he would convene a meeting of active permanent secretaries and department chiefs on Thursday to discuss how to eliminate the Thaksin's regime.

Friday to Sunday on May 25 would see the people rise up to force the ministers to resign. But if the fight is not won by Monday May 26, he will stop it on May 27, Suthep concluded.

Time has always been on the side of the government and 8 months after Suthep and the PDRC started their madness time continues to remain on the side of the government.

Time and time again Suthep and his PDRC have gone bust. Chasing around trying to find cabinet ministers is yet another of Suthep's hair brained schemes that will fall flat if it ever does get off the ground. The clock ran out on Suthep and his PDRC long ago.

The, ahem, "final" weekend of May 25th will be yet another attempt by Suthep and the PDRC to force the military to act. However, Gen Prayuth has the authority under Thai law to impose martial law without having a coup. This too would defeat Suthep's purposes and nefarious designs.

Suthep and the PDRC are bust and everyone knows it to include both. Which means the fast fading and ineffective Suthep and the PDRC are no longer in a position to stop the next election. I see light at the end of the tunnel.

I don't believe a word he says. He is trying to get sympathy from the people who used to come out and support him. He will just say he has a million people and continue the protest. However he will need a lot more than a million to win a victor over the government. There is not great victory for him, the government or the Thai people. Have elections now is the only way you can have reforms in the laws and in the constitution. No other way. Elections, reforms and than another election.

I do not understand why people follow this guy, they suppose to be the educated ones. The education 'system' must be seriously wrong here ...

Only crackpots believed anything Suthep ever said and I agree with your post that Suthep simply will declare a million people present and continue on in his mad way.

Still, the more Suthep and the PDRC continue, the more likely it is they will become completely isolated, which should also prevent them stopping the next election.

yes but does these failure matter? Surely Thaksin will keep the media under closer control, so the people don't get too much disturbed.
