No, I don't agree at all, before I met my wife, I have had no problem dating Thai girls, one with University degrees, one market girl, one shop girl, and an office worker with OK success.

Upper middle class, as in highly educated [,or at least well paid,] professionals with comfortable household incomes.

My Thai friend worked in a hotel, was poor, wanted to do something about it, so she posted on a dating site. Years ago in the US I ran some bars. The girls weren't hookers, some had college degrees, some weren't that smart, but all them had to be smart enough, and tough enough to handle the crap men flung at them. The good ones knew how to milk the regulars for lots of tips. I would say 100% of the gals that weren't married or lesbian, wanted to meet that guy who would take her out of that damn bar life and get her a nice car and good house in the suburbs - whatever a better life meant to her. A higher status in life would suit them fine. I don't think Thai bar girls are much different. I went to where one was staying in Koh Samui a few months ago. Two king mattresses were on the floor in one room, and all the bar girls slept there, side by side. JAL, Thai, JetStar - Not all are female friends, some are married to Thai friends, one to a Western Friend.

....'real-high-so' as if people are talking from a wealth of experience in mixing with those who run the country... I'm sure there are some on this forum who do move in those circles (in fact I know there are some who do). Ultimately, its irrelevant - When people are suggesting that 'high-so's' will not date foreigners they are wrong - as with any sweeping generalisation, I know one daughter of a Government advisor Married to a Westerner - Dept Prime-ministers and MP's at the wedding etc... they are in a very normal and respectful relationship and welcomed by the family.
