I'm spending 60 days travelling around SE Asia, starting and finishing in Bangkok. I won't be in Thailand for longer than 30 days at any point. For neighbouring countries I am fairly sure I can arrange visas from within Thailand/at the borders, so this is not really an issue. My question is, what kind of visa will I need to enter Thailand? My travel agent has informed me that as my return ticket won't be dated within 30 days of entry, I will require a pre-arranged visa. Assuming this is correct, can I get a single entry, 60 day tourist visa for my initial entry, and then re-enter the country at my leisure by claiming a new 30 day visa each time, or will I need to get a multiple entry visa?

Oh, one more question: When applying for a visa, how do I "demonstrate sufficient funds"? Bank statements? A suitcase full of Bahts?

A single entry for your trip here. At land borders there will be no problem getting a 30 day entry without visa stamp and if you fly in the local area it "probably" will not be a problem but you can always purchase a discount ticket out within 30 days if it is.
