I'm travelling from Hat Yai to Edinburgh next month and had a look at booking my flights from Hat Yai to connect with Qatar Airways from BKK.

As is the "norm", I chose to book a return flight and the system came back with a price of just over 6k Baht.

I thought that the price was a bit high (even with the 20 kg baggage included) so had a look at staying in Bangkok for a day or two and flying back with one of the LCCs from DMK. After I chose the single flight option, I was surprised to see the flight was only circa 1.8k Baht as opposed to circa 3k Baht when booking the same flight as part of a return journey. I went on to see if the same was true if i booked the return leg as a single flight - it was.

My question is, "Why?" Is the pricing differential deliberate on the part of TG, or just a bit of a cock-up on their part? Almost 2.5k Baht difference is a significant chunk of change in anybody's book

Thanks mate - doing your little bit to help expose loopholes in the TG/Smile system which a lot of us expats are well aware of.
