George Christensen says Australians should put budget complaints in perspective by touring Asia

In the face of a strong backlash, one Coalition MP has suggested Australians should tour Asia and live like the locals to put their “First World complaints” into perspective.

The Federal Member for Dawson said “try getting any serious form of welfare in Thailand or other SE Asian nations,” when another person insisted “most of Asia is not like that”.

George Christensen has aired his view on Twitter, posting a picture of a small topless child standing in a crowded street littered with rubbish.
