Chinese seem happy enough, does the US want to be stupid enough to let Thailand move under the sphere of the chinese... They have more than enough money to cover the pittance from the yanks.Obama is such a dissapointment.

Stupid turds. Kerry has no clue about civilian rule in Thailand. Compare months of blocked roads and hoards of rogue wannnabe guardians to today's cleared and cleaned streets? General Prayuth should look elsewhere for spending military baht now. $3.5 mil is such a joke. Prayuth craps that out of each contract already.

The US should stick to its rules and suspend any aid just like it would to any military dictatorship. This small amount is piddling.

Noitom, Very true, and I think they will suspend all aid like they have to by law, but even $10 million is a piddling amount! The real hurt will come when the U.S. government puts a halt to all military shipments of any kind to Thailand, as the Thai military is not well stocked in the spare parts department thumbsup.gif src="data:image/gif;base64,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" alt=thumbsup.gif> Hopefully it will not come to this, but I must say it is looking kind of scary right about now, what with this latest news of abolishing the Senate and taking absolute dictatorial power

Give samples of the parts to China - they will happily copy, manufacture and supply they at a lower cost, 55

If the spare parts were cheap plastic parts then you are correct China does excel at reproducing cheap plastic parts, however these spare parts are high tech, state of the art avionics, not something any country would trust to china to produce biggrin.png

Agreed that Obama is a major dissappointment, however the real question is does Thailand want to become a vassal state of the Chinese??? There are some tough and quite scary choices that the Generals will have to make if they really intend on running the country for an extended period of time wink.png

Surely you see the true intent of the war games and exercises here. To use Thailand as a strategical location for the impending war with China. The whole SEA area is going to be the future battlefields when the 2 powerhouses eventually clash.

If China wasn't commies and aggressive expansionists, do you think the USA would even be interested in Thailand???

Your point is well taken.

I would add the United States began its relationship with Thailand in 1833 with the treaty of Comity and Trade, which was long before World War II or the Cold War, and long before the 1949 creation of the People's Republic of China by the Chinese Communist Party, and well before the CCP-PRC began to develop as a 21st century corporate one party state.

The total of $10 million of military aid is a big yawner to begin with.

Much ado about nothing by those who carp and harp.

Those who chronically squawk, squawk, no matter what.

They can squawk on because their constant and chronic carping means nothing.

hahahaha, what a joke, last thing Thailand needs is the US army doing anything with them as they are hopeless. I did several excercises with the US military when I served and they were a joke at best, their training levels are pretty pathetic, the green berets were a total failure at the canungra jungle training centre.

Have to wonder if the US supported the grafting perpetrated by the ptp govt as the general has been able to find the people that attacked the protest site as well as a lot of arms plus paid the farmers, something the ptp govt was unable to do. He has also organized to sort out the corrupt/red police and govenors, we are seeing good results of the coup so far, only ones bitching are the red appologists.

'Foreign aid' is just a political euphemism for a cash bribe between nations.
