7-11's are a godsend in Thailand. Can be found on every corner and every 200 metres orso. It's wonderful when I'm walking the long main sois and feeling hot and dehydrated, the nearest 7-11 is not far and just hop in to cool down and drink some icy beverage. Sometimes I bump into some cute ladies in there, that's just a plus.

Every 200 metres or so? Are you living out in the sticks my man??.....................tongue.png

most girls i see working the 7/11 are about 14yrs old or look that age so no, i dont hang out in the 7.

7/11 requires high school graduation the last I heard. Sure you are talking Thailand?

The minimum requirements for the position include a high school diploma (or equivalent), mathematical ability, effective communication skills, and can work well with a team.

Great - woke up about 20 minutes ago and the local 'seven' wont be open for another hour courtesy of the curfew. I would gleefully garotte someone for an iced-coffee atm, but I spend the bare minimum time in there to get what I need and get the hell out. Some seriously pissed-off looking Farang in that seven and its contagious - I suspect that we are all claustrophobes at heart and those narrow aisles just dont help. Cant believe anyone would want to 'hang out' inside a 7-11

If any of the above sounds a little tense, its that whole coffee thing - Thailand's military leaders need to take a good long look at themselves ;)

An English guy who lives hear me is always hanging outside 7/11.

This guy also goes in our local gym, where I've chatted to him a couple of times. He's friendly enough, late 40's and has spoken to me in the past about "going down 7/11 to see who's about".

And everyday on my drive home from work, there he is, sitting on his motorbike (which is parked and has its engine turned off) outside 7/11.

This guy is from Middlesbrough originally, maybe the people of Middlesbrough do most of their socialising outside of convenience stores?

I don't know but it all seems very strange.

You wouldn't find it strange if you'd been to Middlesbrough, smoggyland. :D

One of the locals down here even has a coffee counter and chairs/tables. Now that is going a bit far, almost to the point of sadness for those that indulge. I do agree, however, though not so much the staff, but loiter for more than a couple minutes and you're bound to spot some juicy totty.

We don't have 7-11 in England

No, but we have Spar. Same same but different smile.png

blakelaw-spar-shop-349071661.jpg

By the way 7-11 started in the USA but is now Japanese owned.

looks 100 % same same as Spar in Austria....Wiki just tells me it is a Dutch chain...All my life I was sure it is an Austrian chain.....

7-11 ham and cheese sandwich is one of the main reason I'm frequently visit Thailand.

Sent from my SM-G900F using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Try the chicken duo next time

Isn't that illegal? or at least slightly perverted?

Seven sells nothing edible. I can't believe anybody would ate that stuff unless you are stuck out in the sticks. eating fast food I can understand just not eating out of 7-11. My friend earns very well and eats chicken basil from 7 everyday. I just can't understand this as he can afford anything he wants and lives very central. Cold cuts and imported cheese on fresh bread from gourmet market or 7-11 microwave food.... tough choice.

7/11 sells flavored waters by Chang. 7/11 sells fermented yogurt that is great for baking. 7/11 sells two kinds of Bulgarian yogurt that can be turned into great lo fat cream cheese with just a little knowledge. 7/11 sells Chinese noodles and mixes that are far better than the Thai versions. 7/11 sells good raisin bread that toasted and spread with that lo fat cream cheese spread is great and lo cal. 7/11 sells small éclairs that are quite good. 7/11 sells hot dogs that my dog likes better than Tesco Lotus. 7/11 sells decent bullion cubes for cooking. 7/11 sells sells not bad Hershey chocolate. 7/11 sells dehydrated fruits and grapes and cranberries good for snacks. 7/11 sells many kinds of Joke and Ma ma not bad for a quick breakfast or a meal if you are sick. 7/11 has a new kind of bread "Royal" that's not bad. And the Pièce de résistance two hardboiled eggs (perfect every time) with a great soy dipping sauce. biggrin.png The hard boiled eggs area really really great I think 20 baht. How could anyone not like a cold beer and hard boiled eggs?

So it sells a load of processed shit, but no actual food?

Hard boiled eggs are processed food? Come to Thailand and check it out. You will find a whole new world outside of your computer screen.

I live in Thailand. I just don't shop in 7/11 because there are plenty of more appealing shops to choose from.

1. Are hard boiled eggs processed food? 2. No way. Everyone in Thailand shops at 7/11 or a clone. I don't believe you. No offense I just don't believe you. No topics? You live in Thailand and never had a question Thai Visa could help you with? It is just not believable to me. You pay bills at 7/11 you get phone cards at 7/11 you buy batteries at 7/11. There are 7/11s at many gas stations. Sorry no. You don't live in Thailand. If you do; I apologize you are one out of 66 million.

I can see liking or not liking 7/11 but Thai Visa members have you all ever heard of a person who never goes in 7/11? And has anyone ever found a better place to find Visa information than ThaiVisa?

7/11 and Thai Visa, two constants for expats in Thailand.

Why would I make something like that up?

This place is hilarious. Some of you are so freaked out by anything even slightly outside the narrow expat stereotype that you immediately assume it must be a lie.
