One suspect arrested after three killed in shooting in Brussels

BRUSSELS, May 26 (Xinhua) -- The Belgian Procuratorate confirmed Saturday evening, a few hours after the shooting in Brussels, to the press that a suspect has been arrested and another one fled.

According to the Procuratorate, it's good that the detainee "is a suspect and not a witness," but the link with the facts has not yet been established.

An investigation into the other fleeing suspect is underway, the Procuratorate added.

On the eve of Belgian federal and regional parliamentary elections on Sunday, a shooting occurred Saturday afternoon near a Jewish museum at downtown Brussels, that caused three people killed and one seriously injured.

Belgium Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Didier Reynders, present in the district of Sablon at the time of shooting, can not help "thinking of an anti-Semitic act in view of the operational mode".

Although the Belgian Interior Minister Joelle Milquet said Saturday that it is still "too early to say whether this is a terrorist act aimed at the Jewish community."

Let's not forget that the main targets by numbers of radical islamist are and always have been non-radical muslims. What a weird religion where people give support to their own murderers, the only moral equivalent I can think of in "our World" are military chaplains.

As far as I'm aware, there is no clear indication that the perpetrator is Muslim.

And I don't think that it is much of a condolence for Europeans to know that globally most targets of radical Muslims

are other Muslims.

Modern day military chaplains do not, as a rule, encourage the troops to slay the heretics, heathens and whatnot.

Their real end game is against Israel. Israel owns the temple site which for thousands of years has been considered sacred by the Jews (and Christians to a degree), but is now a Muslim temple which the the Muslims can't access.

With both sides considering the site itself as a sacred core necessity for proper worship, there will be no peace.

This is both somewhat OT and incorrect.

Muslims are the only ones allowed to pray in the Temple Mount itself. There is some debate in Judaism, on whether it is permitted to pray, or even to enter the grounds of Temple Mount. Jews and Christians have access to the Western (or Wailing) Wall, bordering on of it's sides. The Mount is administered by a Muslim agency, the Waqf, while the Western Wall is administered separately by a Jewish agency. There are ongoing arguments between the two bodies regarding treatment of archeological remains, and with regard to exact boundaries each controls.

Muslim citizens of Israel, and residents of Jerusalem are allowed free access. There are some restrictions on access for Palestinian men, which change from time to time. Muslim pilgrims and tourists get free access. Jews and Christians are allowed to visit, but not to pray, access usually not permitted during Muslim holidays and Fridays.

Again, not confirmed the shooter is Muslim, and no shortage of European Neo-Nazis etc.

The IRA would be another fine example

Proof again that murder is not the best diplomatic policy for seeking a peaceful solution to any disagreement, regardless of the lifespan of that disagreement.

However, there is a big difference between a disagreement and a grudge, no matter which side you view that from. A disagreement suggests a possible solution. A grudge has no forbearance for a solution and survives only to perpetuate itself. Idealists don't get it.

Brussels is where the European parliament meets, shocking that this could happen in Brussels. That a Belgium citizen could have carried out this atrocity, is truly shocking.

No specific indication the shooter is Belgian, and not exactly sure why it should be shocking if he is.

Nutters and killers can be of any nationality. Not really hard to move within the EU, not that hard to

move in and out of the EU.

Although the allegiance of the shooter have not been established, some commentators have noticed a similarity between this attack and one in Toulouse in 2012, which was carried out by a Muslim.

Islam is a lost cause when you have a very prominent and educated Nigerian Muslim (on BBC today) stating flatly that the act of kidnapping over 200 schoolgirls proves that Boko Haram is not an Islamic sect.

The disconnect with reality is stunning.

Lying is standard fair for apologists for political Islam, and always will be whilst people would rather remain in denial than face the truth. I lived in Brussels in 1993-1995, even at that time there were no go zones where women dressed in western attire could not walk safely even in the day. Brussels will be a majority Muslim city by 2030, which is quite befitting the capital of Eurabia.

French intelligence holds Mehdi Nemmouche, 29, linked to Islamist groups in Syria, over four killings last week

A Frenchman with suspected ties to Islamic radicals in Syria has been arrested over last week's fatal shooting at the Jewish Museum in Brussels.

The suspected gunman, 29-year-old Mehdi Nemmouche, was arrested on Friday, in Marseille, while in possession of a Kalashnikov rifle and a hand

gun similar to the ones used in the attack on 24 May 24, sources said.
