Extending my double entry- after the new rules

Featured Replies

Hey,

Firstly, apologies if anyone has already done this thread, I have tried looking on the forums but cant find any info on this specifically.

I need to extend my second entry on my double entry visa. Having heard the horror stories from other people ( i.e. people getting deported) I just wanted to get the score on this area.

Has anyone had any problems doing this recently (since the rules changed) in Bangkok? I know people have had problems at borders but what about at the immigration office?

I do have quite a number of tourist and non immigrant visa's from the past and so I'm really worried I might get denied and get the boot.

Thanks

No problems reported. They still routinely do them same as before.

The new restrictions primarily are for doing visa exempt entries.

What are you talking about? Who has been deported while getting an extension of stay at Immigrations? Please refrain from posting such nonsense. What new rules are there that have anything to do with extensions of stay?

sorry I guess I should have been clearer. I have read that people have been stopped questioned and in some cases deported at the border for having lots of previous visas in their passport- this is true for both people with visas and exemptions . I can not confirm this to be true but this is what I have read. As I said in my post I am aware of this happening at borders but I'm just not sure if this sort of thing is happening at the immigration office. again could all be exaggerations but obv after reading these stories I am worried and just wanted to get some facts.

deported at the border...

Let's keep this short and specific to your case.

There are no new rules regarding extensions of stay on a visa obtained before entering the country.

There have been no issues reported for people holding any type of single or multiple-entry visa, who are currently in Thailand, still within their permission to stay period, going to an immigration office and requesting an extension of stay on the current entry.

While the immigration officers are within their right to deny such a request for a variety of reasons, and non-reasons, they usually grant the request.

So, if you are here on a Tourist Visa and are still doing that you should have no problem.
