This is all because the bus drivers don't know how to use the gears

and let the engine slow the bus down, heard how some put the gear

in neutral and free wheel down hills, using brakes to slow down,

come to a bend going too fast, cannot get it back in gear, brakes

are overheated ,fade and don't work, and it will keep happening as

they never learn to drive properly.

I wonder do they have different classes of licence in Thailand. Probably not. Unfortunately the bigger vehicles often have the most aggressive drivers and vans and coach drivers are the worst.

Yes they do have different licenses, for HGV and for buses, but i suspect you can

get one with minimal training, and all these crashes seem to attest to that fact, passing

a test in front of a screen or in a car park is not the way to go, they need to be done

on the roads, then see how many pass.

My wife's brother, while (thank God) not a bus driver, rides the brakes while going downhill too fast. Twice I've made him pull over and let the brakes cool off, then take my wife aside and whisper to her that he needs to put the truck in a lower gear and not use the brakes so much. She tells him, and things are fine for awhile, until the next time. There is resentment on his part, but the fact is he just really doesn't understand the concept, and for the life of me I don't understand why. So many times I've asked her to tell him something while he's driving, and most of the time the answer is: Brother know! But clearly, he doesn't.

Definitely not advisable to go down a hill in neutral. Did it once in a Vauxhall Viva in Wales. The car quickly picked up speed. We were airborne going over small bridge. Maybe only 6 inches but it went from being a laugh to terrifying very quickly. lucky to get the car back under control. Lesson learned. I think I was about 18 years old.
