New, tougher Driving Tests for Pattaya Drivers from 1st June

PATTAYA:--New, tougher driving tests are set to be introduced around Thailand from 1st June, according to information published by the Department of Land Transport on Friday.

We visited the Banglamung District Land Transport Office on Friday and met with Khun Gosin, Director of the Office, who mentioned that since news of the new tests was published in the Thai media, the office has been extremely busy.

The main reason for this is a change to the Theory test which previously saw applicants answer 30 questions with a required pass-rate of 75%. From 1st June this changes to 50 questions with a required 90% pass-rate.

Conclusion - as from 1st June, they will know that 90% of the driving habits they have are illegal. Yep, that'll do it.

If they will use the same google translated Thai to English questions as before most foreigners will not pass the first time.

So I wonder what will happen to us with current 1/5 years licenses? Do we also have to do this test?
