Govt House website, FB to serve as info channels

The Nation

BANGKOK: -- The junta will communicate with the public and international communities through the Government House website and Facebook.

Yongyuth Maiyalarp, the newly appointed member of the National Council for Peace and Order spokespersons team, said from now on the NCPO will use www.thaigov.go.th as a major channel to update on the current situation, in Thai and English. The Thai Khu Fah Facebook account will be used to promote reconciliation as well, he said.

The decision came after a meeting at Government House of the NCPO spokespersons' team, the Foreign Ministry, the Public Relations Department, and PM's Secretariat Office.

The meeting was aimed at stressing and bringing about reconciliation and harmony in the country and creating a better understanding among foreign communities, the former spokesman of the Surayud Chulanont government said.

The NCPO yesterday also began holding its daily press conference at Government House. The NCPO moved its venue for general press conferences from the Army Auditorium in Thewes to the Santi Maitree Building in the Government House compound.

Please note

Zero tolerance for disruptive behaviour

Extraordinary events are taking place once again, and it is important that this venue remains a source of reliable and accurate information so that those needing information to keep their families safe and informed are able to do so without finding a forum cluttered up with senseless fighting, rumours and speculation.

For the time being we will have a zero tolerance policy towards:

- Abusive behaviour towards others.

- Rumour mongering, speculation, or other inflammatory posts.

- Political lobbying or propaganda of any kind.

- Abusing the report system.

Posts in violation will be deleted without comment and posting rights removed.

It is time to set aside your bickering and arguments and help keep others informed. We thank you in advance for your co-operation.

Thank You

Maybe the plan to set up their own facebook style social network that is going to make the junta billions when on sold? Zuckerberg did it.

The other thing is to start again; what about calling this year one. Pol Pot did it.

Controling thought is a hard one to achieve? That little boy with a bad haircut from North Korea did it.

This is good news, a single source of controlled information. What with all this superfluous information finding its way in front of Thai and foreign eyes, it is critical to control information and sanitize it. The logical channel for this would be the designated web site. A quick visit to this site illustrates a wealth of information about former PM Yingluck's policies and a lovely photo of her.

Facebook?

Let's how the yellow supporters on here justify this move seeing you guys bagged yingluck day and day out for using her face book.

You can't have it both ways!

Why does anyone need to justify anything to you or for you?

NCPO are using any and all channels to get their messages and information out there, not just Facebook . . . it's the modern way don't you know?

Yingluck only used Facebook. Sometimes. When there was a pretty picture to post or she needed to post what Robert Amsterdam wrote for her . . .

Blame Yingluck for getting people used to facebook?

Anyway, the OP has "www.thaigov.go.th as a major channel to update on the current situation, in Thai and English. The Thai Khu Fah Facebook account will be used to promote reconciliation as well"

Of course we still have the regular NCPO broadcasts flashing in on the normal TV Channels.

Now I'm confused (again). I thought they were going to create their own gateway and social media for Thai's within two months, but now they say they will use FB for communications. Which is it, or both?
