Officials follow up on Surat Thani’s logistics route project

SURAT THANI, 10 June 2014 (NNT) – Related agencies are overseeing the development of Surat Thani’s logistics city route project aimed at decreasing traffic congestion while also hoping to make the city more organized.

A meeting among related officials was held in efforts to follow up on the progress and development of the logistics planning project in Surat Thani’s city routes. The project would be divided into a total of 12 sub-projects.

The projects are expected to improve the general view of the city to become more organized and also resolve traffic problems.

The projects mainly involve renovating and expanding main routes within the city areas of Surat Thani such as renovating the road which links Wat Pho, Highway No. 401, and Sriwichai roads together as well as expanding the roads at Soi Tha Rong Chang to link it to Soi Pho Khun Talay 20/1.

Apart from road improvement to solve traffic congestion, the city’s drainage system will also be increased to prevent future flooding in the long term.

How about tearing down all the horrible dreary post-apocalypse type buildings? But then there would be nothing left...

Surat Thani is a disgrace to this country; the city should be a major tourism hub, but the infrastructure reminds one more of darkest Africa than SE Asia.

Train station a disgrace, airport way out in the sticks and the mafia style transport company who control all buses, taxis etc.

Any improvements here will be a big shock as the money is obviously channeled out to the bigwigs who are quite happy to see their fellow man living in squalor, while they lord it from their new Mercedes...

Surat Thani is in fact a dump of a place, a real Thai town that appears to have just happened. The airport is a good twenty mins out of town and is in fact owned by the RT Air Force, who i have heard , are trying to get it back. There really is no train station at Surat Thani but once again about twenty mins drive away at yet another dump of a Thai town called Pun Pin. One would think that being the home town centre for Suthep, some money and planning would have gone into brightening the place up during the time he was in power. But i suppose he was too busy enroaching government land on Koh Samui to make his family property there worthwhile having.
