Pay TV has stolen all the major sports events in recent years, the likes of the World Cup should be off limits IMO. Because RS got the concession a good while ago, and it was not - as far as I know - countered in any way by the Thai broadcasting authorities when they should have countered it if they had the broad public interest at heart. That is how these things work in western countries and -- officially, theoretically -- work here too. If you want to blame somebody for this, blame MCOT or whoever oversees broadcasting in Thailand, not a court upholding the legal right of a private business. That said, I actually agree with your opinion that the Olympics and the World Cup should be broadcast free to air. It's up to governments to ensure that open access from the beginning, not to come in at the last moment and try to foul up the contracts and investments made long ago by a private business without a murmur from the government at the time of the deal. I just came past my local moto boys on the way home from my walk and they are football mad. They were not impressed. I think once the military gauge public mood on this one, we won't have heard the end of this.
