At first sight this game is not be down as an eye opener but with a potentially underrated Chilean side going up against an Australian team very much in transition, there could be lots of goals here (now I've said that watch of the 0-0 bore draw!).

In Arturo Vidal and Alexis Sanchez, Chile have two fantastic young talents who could really make life difficult not just for the Socceroos but for any defence they come up against in the tournament. Expect attack, attack, attack from Chile.

As for Australia, they're very much a young side in tranisition, with the a few older heads (and maybe worn out legs) of Tim Cahill and Mark Bresciano in the squad for their experience. In fact these two could become the first Aussie players to play at 3 world cups, which is quite an achievement.

There could be goals in this one.

I'm not sure how many Chileans we have on the forum but you Aussies can let us know your predictions below!

Aussie Aussie Aussie Oiy Oiy Oiy!

I'm not much of a soccer fan but doing my patriotic duty and will be up around 5am to watch it live.

Chile's vertically challenged back-line may provide the Aussies with at least some chance of kicking a goal. Chilli too spicy 2-1.

Look for Chile to take this one. As The Scarf put it-attack, attack, attack. Lots of pace and trickery. Australia will have to be super disciplined on defense to have any chance.

I'm watching it.

I understand the first goal scored ... bit of a mosh pit there.

But the second goal, we have 3 defenders on 2 shooters, yet we still managed to allow a free man ... facepalm.gif

Must admit ... I'm throughly enjoying watching the game.

I don't watch or follow Soccer ... but this is great.

That Lecke guy on the wing for Australia is brilliant.

Many dodgy pelalities and yellow cards against Oz, I wonder how much the ref had on a Chili win ? I think this one will go down with many question marks of corruption.

Lots of good sportsmanship between the players though.

Australia have the right idea -- look how a smallish guy like Tim Cahill put the fear of God into the Chilean defence.

Keep sending those high balls from the edge of the 50 in the forward pocket to the top of the square, and put a big flyer on the end of it. If he can't get it, there's a few ground-level crumbers around.

So, the answer is obvious for the Spain match. Draft in Buddy Franklin -- Pique and Ramos won't have the first idea how to handle him.

Move the ball quickly through the corridor, fast transition, and let Buddy do the rest.

(Postecoglu needs to start using the interchange better, though)
