webfact Posted June 16, 2014 Share Posted June 16, 2014 Meteorological Department warns Bangkok residents to brace for rainsBANGKOK, 16 June 2014 (NNT) - The Meteorological Department has said that parts of Bangkok and its suburbs are set to face thunderstorms as well as heavy rains.Monsoons blowing in from northern Thailand and the southwestern Andaman Sea would be covering many parts of the country. Therefore, people are warned to brace for possible floods and heavy downpours for the next 1-2 days.As waves in the Andaman Sea could be as high as 3-4 meters, the department has warned boat operators to be prepared whenever they set sail. The department also stated that the tropical storm HAGIBIS would be slowly coming in from the North China Sea. It is expected that the storm would arrive later today. Passengers who are traveling to Hong Kong and Taiwan are advised to check the weather forecast before setting out on the journey.Bangkok and its suburbs are set to be covered by large volumes of clouds, with a 80 percent chance of a thunderstorm. Two months ago they were saying releasing much more water and you would be able to walk across them! ... well not really but it said levels at Bhumibol and Sirikit were critically low, whatever that means. Think a bit of rain may be a blessing, look like we will be safe in BK for another year. Bring on the rain and the cooler weather ............ Has the heavy rain been predicted for your location? We have not exactly been getting slammed but plenty of rain landing in Chiangmai. Aw what the heck give them a break- they don't have the benefit of your all-encompassing knowledge to produce the perfection that you expect.
