hi

has anyone had their application for guardian visa rejected for the education visa applied for their child in Koh Samui?

How long does it take for them to approve/reject your application at the Nathon Immigration?

Thanks in advance!

...guardian visa rejected for the education visa ...

You might need to explain your situation a little more clearly. Immigrations do not issue visas. If you entered the country on a visa, it was issued to you at an embassy or consulate outside of Thailand.

Is the child legally your son/daughter? What visa did you (and the child ?) use to enter the country?

Probably get a better response if your post was made in the visa and immigrations forum as well.

If your child has an extension of stay obtained at immigration you can apply as their caregiver for an extension of stay if you have 500k baht in a Thai bank for 30 days (90 days for next extension).

You will first need a non immigrant O visa obtained from and embassy or consulate. If your child does not already have an extension they will need a non-ed visa to get it.

At most immigration offices the extension is done while you wait.

Thx ubonjoe - I have non immig visa already, apparently immigration are asking for extra supporting documents-just wondering whether we should be worried and whether our application gets rejected?

They can ask for more than the required documents listed int the police order but in end the they will do the extension as long you your child already has their extension of stay and you have proof that you are their parent.

Thanks all - they have now asked for notarisation of our children's birth certificates! Can we ask any solicitor to notarise the birth certificates as children's birth certificates were issued outside of UK and Thailand? Thanks!

Notarization would only be needed to do certified copy of an original document.

I suspect they are wanting them to be certified.as true and correct by the country where they were issued.

Are the birth certificates in English.

Hi - both original birth cert are in english, issued in UAE. We have one of them which was then registered in UK birth registry. The other one, not.

Just wondering what is the fastest way to get this done as otherwise we would need to leave on 8th July...

Do you have both of the original birth certificates from the UAE? I suggest you contact the UAE embassy about getting those certified.

I another option might be for you to do a declaration at the UK embassy that the birth certificates are true and correct. You would need to check with immigration to see if they would accept this.
