Two dead and seven wounded in late-night Miami shooting

MIAMI: -- Two people were killed and seven wounded in an overnight shooting in Miami, police say.

Investigators say multiple gunmen opened fire outside an apartment building complex in the Liberty City neighbourhood.

Kevin Richardson, 29, and Nakeri Jackson, 26, were killed in the attack.

Officials say they are investigating a motive behind the shootings, which happened shortly after 02:15 local time on Tuesday.

Later that morning, police cones marked dozens of spent shell casings outside the two-storey block of flats.

Why is this in the Thai news? The Thai news is all filler, no real stories or information helpful to Thais or foreigners living in Thailand. No useful information for the international community to see Thailand's progress in cleaning up.

Australia's last shooting massacre occurred in 1996 in Port Arthur, Tasmania with 35 killed. Since the 1996 gun crackdown and amnesty there has not been 1 death from a shooting massacre since. Makes me wonder how many Aussies are alive walking the streets today because of the new gun control laws? Plenty I imagine.

From another news report:

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/two-dead-seven-injured-after-gunmen-open-fire-on-miami-apartment-complex/story-e6frf7jo-1226965695000

"TWO gunmen sprayed a Miami apartment complex with dozens of rounds of gunfire from automatic weapons early Tuesday morning."

Even though its likely the weapons will be determined to be semi-automatic, both weapons would have possibly been banned under the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban that was allowed to expire under "juniors" regime.

From the same article:

"The gunfire came from an AK-47 and an AR-15 assault rifle. Police also believe the intended target wasnt at the scene."

Another day, another fatal mass shooting in America.

And people say Thailand is a crazy place to live...

America's lax gun laws are nothing short of moronic.

There are different types of mass shootings in America. This is the more "ordinary" and common variety.

Black on black, inner-city violence.

This is the kind of shooting where the "concealed carry" argument falls flat on its face.

This kind of thing has been happening in Liberty City - a black ghetto - long before I lived in Miami in the 1970s. It is very unlikely that legal weapons were used.

" It is very unlikely that legal weapons were used. "

Are people less dead when shot with legal weapons?

Because with all the shootings, stabbings, car crashes, drunken rampages, etc. which are the daily fare in the Thai media, they always look for something horrific from the West so that they can give the impression that this sort of thing is the norm everywhere, not just Thailand.

Many guns are bought illegally, this shooting may have nothing to do with gun laws but the Black Market, which flourishes worldwide.
