July 1, 201412 yr Hi everyone I am due to leave my employment on Friday. I am on a non imm B visa and have a work permit. My employer has very kindly agreed not to cancel my WP until Monday to give me a little longer to leave the country (I know I only have 24 hours unless I obtain a 7 day extension which I do not wish to do). My query is do I have to go with my employer to cancel the WP, and then take the chit to immigration to get it stamped before I can leave or can I just leave and obtain a tourist visa at a neighbouring consul and return to Thailand without an issue (my intention is to travel Thailand for a bit). If I do the latter will it cause any problems with me obtaining a new non imm B and WP in the future should I wish to work in Thailand again - sorry if this is an obvious and simple question but I am finding a lot of conflicting information. The latter would be simpler for both me and my employer, but I wish to make sure I do everything by the book. Many thanks Anna
July 1, 201412 yr If you can get a letter from your employer stating your job is ending on Monday you can go to immigration and they will cancel your extension effective on that date. Doing it this way is the proper way of doing it instead of just leaving. You do not have to go with your employer to cancel your work permit.
July 1, 201412 yr Author That's great - thank you so much for your quick response - do I need anything else in addition to the letter? Sorry again for the simplicity of the question, just want to make sure I get it all correct
