Basic Advice And Tips For A Farang Living In Krabi?

Hi all,

I'll be moving to Krabi fairly soon and was just wondering if there are any basic bits of advice or tidbits of knowledge that you'd like to pass on about living successfully in this area.

I'm fairly familiar with Thai culture, have have quite a few Thai friends (though none from the south). But this will be my first time living in the country, and find myself wondering about many small things from grocery shopping to avoiding snakes.

And of course this thread could be of help to other visitors to the area as well.
